Presently, Ashesi University College offers a liberal arts core curriculum and majors in Business Administration, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, and Engineering. Ashesi Faculty and staff have multicultural backgrounds and share a passion for teaching and a dedication to the needs of students while collaborating across a wide range of research interests.<\/p>\n<p class=\"x_p1\"><strong>Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_p1\"><strong>Job Title: Medical Laboratory\u00a0<\/strong><b>Coordinator<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_p1\"><span class=\"x_s1\"><b>Job Summary:<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_p1\"><span class=\"x_s1\">The technician will play a vital role in setting up the mechanical workshop and laboratory for world-class education.<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_p1\">Reports to: <b>Dean of Engineering<\/b><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_p1\"><span class=\"x_s1\">Department: <b>Engineering<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"x_p1\"><span class=\"x_s1\"><b>Duties &amp; Responsibilities<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span class=\"x_s1\">Complementing mechanical engineering teaching in laboratory sessions and giving technical advice to faculty and students<\/span>.<\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span class=\"x_s1\">Liaising with faculty to discuss equipment requirements and work plans.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span class=\"x_s1\">Running trials of experiments prior to classes and demonstrating techniques for experiments.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span class=\"x_s1\">Preparing equipment before lessons.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span class=\"x_s1\">Working with students and supporting them on research projects and class projects.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span class=\"x_s1\">Maintaining and repairing equipment and laboratory apparatus.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span class=\"x_s1\">Ensuring that equipment is properly cleaned and that materials are appropriately stored.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span class=\"x_s1\">Managing the stock control of equipment and supplies, and keeping appropriate records.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span class=\"x_s1\">Developing a workshop and laboratory safety programme, and ensuring that all health and safety procedures are understood and followed correctly.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"x_p1\"><span class=\"x_s1\"><b>Qualifications, Experience &amp; Skills<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span class=\"x_s1\">Must have a minimum of a Bachelor of Science degree, Higher National Diploma or an equivalent degree with emphasis on Mechanical engineering<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span class=\"x_s1\">Four (4) years of working experience in a laboratory or workshop environment<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span class=\"x_s1\">Enthusiastic about working with faculty and students in an academic and research environment<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Able to independently learn new skills and equipment<\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span class=\"x_s1\">Meticulous attention to detail.<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span class=\"x_s1\">Good communication skills (particularly spoken)<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span class=\"x_s1\">Working knowledge of Microsoft Office<\/span><\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span class=\"x_s1\">Sharp analytical skills<\/span> and well-organized<\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\">High degree of maturity and confidentiality with academic related matters<\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\">Ethical behavior is of prime importance in the role<b>\u00a0<\/b><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"x_p1\"><span class=\"x_s1\"><b>Additional Desirable Attributes<\/b><\/span><\/p>\n<ul type=\"disc\">\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span class=\"x_s1\">Working experience in a college\/university environment<\/span>.<\/li>\n<li class=\"x_MsoNormal\"><span class=\"x_s1\">This position would ideally suit an individual who is a self-starter, good team player and is willing to continuously learn.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Ashesi University College is seeking an experienced Mechanical Laboratory Technician to join our Engineering team.
