UNESCO Accra was established in the year 2000 as a Cluster Office covering 6 countries in the West Africa Region. Following the conclusion of the UNESCO Field Offices Reform, in 2014, UNESCO Accra has transformed itself into a national office focusing its activities on Ghana alone. The activities of the UNESCO Accra National Office fall within the programmatic framework of UNESCO covering all domains of UNESCO\u2019s mandate in the areas of: Education; Culture; Natural and Social and Human Sciences; and, Information and Communication. In cooperation with the Regional Office for the ECOWAS Region based in Abuja, under which geographical area it falls, the UNESCO Accra Office works closely with the Ghana National Commission for UNESCO and the Government of Ghana in building strategic partnerships and initiatives, leading to creating and reinforcing policies and programmes aimed at achieving national targets<\/p>\n

Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n

Job Title: ICT Assistants<\/strong><\/p>\n

UNESCO Accra is inviting applications from qualified Ghanaian Nationals for the following position: ICT Assistant (GS6)<\/p>\n

Summary of Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n

The ICT Assistant will be responsible for the following duties<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Diagnosis, detecting, solving and following up on IT-related issues with end-users
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Ensuring adequate functioning of the specialised liaison time with the UNESCO IT services, in close cooperation with the relevant UNESCO HQ IT colleagues
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 As network IT Assistant:- assisting in trouble-shooting and monitoring of network problems (helpdesk)
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Providing administrative support on ICT relevant issues
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 As member of Administrative Unit, the incombent will be responsible for the procurement tasks which include: purchasing, customs clearing and disposal of items according to UNESCO’s Policies
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Maintain and update on timely basis the physical inventory of all office assets and report to HQ on time
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Liaise with the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and relevant government units with regard to aaccreditation of new staff<\/p>\n

Qualification Required & Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 Minimum of University Degree in IT or Technical or Vocational, Diploma in Computer sciences and information technology fields. Relevant certification in hardware and software management and application will be an asset
\n\u2022\u00a0\u00a0 5 to 7 years of experience in the field of information technologies, network administration, support to management of hardware and software platforms, telecommunication facilities, packages and applications<\/p>\n

Other Skills\/Competencies:<\/strong> Confidentilaty, communication\/organisational skills, Flexibility\/Adaptability, Team work, Analytical skills<\/p>\n

IT Skills:<\/strong> Advanced Computer skills and use of relevant software and other applications such as MS Office package, Database, PHP, Internet, including Web 2.0, knowledge of desktop publishing software and photoshop<\/p>\n

Languages:<\/strong> Fluency in written and spoken English<\/p>\n

Location:<\/strong> Accra<\/p>\n
