Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n

Contract Duration: 2.5 years
\nExpected Start Date: March 1, 2011<\/p>\n

Under the direction of the Project Co-ordinator, the Project Assistant provide support for the achievement of project objectives. As the Project Assistant, your role is to provide day to day support to the Project Coordinator to ensure efficient and effective planning and execution of the various project activities<\/p>\n

Support the implementation of planned programme activities
\nSupport training for DA officers in the around leadership and governance, management, negotiation and networking skills; resource mobilization and marketing; facilitation skills and techniques
\nSupport training for AC officers on adult learning methodologies and techniques; facilitation skills; community mobilization techniques
\nSupport training for teachers, staff and community members including Parent Teachers Associations (PTAs) and School Management Committees (SMCs)
\nParticipate in on-site monitoring of planned programme activities
\nEnsuring effective and efficient communications with the Programme stakeholders at all levels
\nProvide guidance to Resource Persons or Volunteers as may be appropriate
\nEnsure that Programme equipment is used within clearly defined norms
\nSupport the Project Coordinator in all activities related to the project
\nSalary and Fringe Benefits: Competitive and attractive, but negotiable based on experience and salary history<\/p>\n

Required Skills or Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n

A degree in the social science, Development Studies or related degree
\nA minimum of three years in community development, education, water and sanitation, or multi-sectoral approaches
\nExperience in donor-funded project management
\nExperience in using community participatory development and PLA\/PRA techniques
\nA capacity to work comfortably at all levels of society, especially at the community level
\nPrevious experience in the implementation of a project related to gender equality, advocacy, and quality of education will be an advantage
\nEnergy, drive, commitment to results and superior inter-personal skills
\nProven integrity and excellent work ethics
\nSelf-directed, strong ability to work under little supervision
\nExcellent organizational skills
\nStrong written, analytical, oral communication and computer skills
\nCapable of working under pressure
\nResults-oriented with the ability to meet deadlines
\nGood understanding of gender equality principles<\/p>\n
