Established in 2008, the HRAC is an organisation situated in the Greater Accra region that operates across Ghana. The HRAC was set up by Nana Oye Lithur,currently the Minister for Gender,Children and Social Protection. With over fifteen years of legal practice, Ms Lithur, has dealt extensively with human rights issues. The mandate of the HRAC is to deal with these issues by providing free legal assistance to needy individuals, communities, vulnerable groups, Most-Risk-Populations and institutions.<\/p>\n<p>The vision was conceived when Ms Lithur headed the African regional branch of the Commonwealth Human Rights Initiative (CHRI). The CHRI is an international NGO that works to promote and protect human rights in the Commonwealth Countries. From 2004-2008 she led extensive human rights campaigns and activities to sensitise Ghanaian rural communities, state institutions and the general public to human rights standards. The Executive Director shall be responsible for supervising all employees of the HRAC. S\/he shall serve as the head of HRAC and shall report directly to the Board of Directors. The Executive Director shall serve as a member of the Board and shall be responsible for coordinating all meetings of the Board of Directors. The Executive Director shall also see to the implementation of the HRAC\u2019s strategy as approved by the Board of Directors. S\/he shall be responsible for the design and implementation of systems in line with the HRAC\u2019s vision and mission to ensure that the HRAC achieves its goals and objectives.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Person Specification<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To be considered for the role, applicant must meet the following criteria:<\/p>\n<p><strong>Education\/Professional Qualification<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Minimum of Master Degree in Human Rights, the Social Sciences and Development Studies from a recognized University<\/li>\n<li>A legal background is preferable<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Work Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Minimum of 4-7 years progressive work experience in same or similar position in an NGO is preferred.<\/li>\n<li>Applicant must be familiar with non-profit non-governmental organization operations, systems and regulations<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge and experience in human rights advocacy required.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of local and international donor and grantee relationship<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Skills<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Strong report writing and presentation skills<\/li>\n<li>Superior supervisory skills with strong persuasion and influence skills<\/li>\n<li>Ability to efficiently engage directly and indirectly with all levels of staff and external stakeholders<\/li>\n<li>Self-reliant, good problem solver, results\/quality oriented with eye for details<\/li>\n<li>Excellent communication skills (written and verbal)<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work under pressure whilst maintaining high delivery standards<\/li>\n<li>Ability to effortlessly plan and prioritize workload<\/li>\n<li>Strong in financial analysis and forecasting with proactive and innovative approach to problem solving<\/li>\n<li>Energetic, flexible, collaborative, proactive and a team player<\/li>\n<li>A highly motivated professional with the highest level of integrity<\/li>\n<li>Fundraising skills<\/li>\n<li>Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and ability to self-type is a must<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>How to Apply<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Qualified and interested persons should send their Cover Letter and CV to <strong>info@hracghana.org<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Address cover letter as follows:<br \/>\n<strong>The Chair Person Board of Directors Human Rights Advocacy Centre<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>O.
