Innovation for Poverty Action (IPA) Ghana is part of a larger US based non-profit (501\u00a9(3)) organization founded in 2003 by Dean Karlan, with the goal of serving as the link between academic research and real world problems faced by the poor in developing countries. IPA creates and evaluates approaches to solving development problems and works to scale up successful projects through implementation and dissemination of policymakers, practitioners, investors and donors around the world, to determine the cost effectiveness of poverty alleviation programs, using the most rigorous evaluation techniques. With 280 currently ongoing projects in 42 countries in Africa, Asia, and North and South America, IPA\u2019s projects span a variety of fields, including microfinance, transfers, education, health, agriculture, corruption, charitable giving, political participation and social capital.<\/p>\n

IPA is a registered NGO, in Ghana with 16 on-going projects, 40 international and local staff and permanent offices in Tamale and Accra.<\/p>\n

Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n

Innovations for Poverty Action is looking for an Accounts Assistant, to work part-time (3 days a week) based in the Tamale office. We require a minimum one year of experience in an administrative or accounts support role. Experience with non-governmental organizations in Ghana is preferred. Excellent English skills, a high level of computer literacy, attention to detail, and someone outgoing and determined is required.<\/p>\n

The Accounts Assistant will spend roughly 40% time processing financial forms under the supervision of the Tamale Office Manager, 40% time on finance and accounting support tasks within and outside the office, and 20% time on other general office tasks. This position is well-suited for an individual who would like to gain experience in financial accounting.
