Nurses may be differentiated from other health care providers by their approach to patient care, training, and scope of practice. Nurses practice in many specialisms with differing levels of prescriber authority. Many nurses provide care within the ordering scope of physicians, and this traditional role has shaped the public image of nurses as care providers. However, nurses are permitted by most jurisdictions to practice independently in a variety of settings depending on training level. In the postwar period, nurse education has undergone a process of diversification towards advanced and specialized credentials, and many of the traditional regulations and provider roles are changing.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0Nurse Advisor \u2013 REF: 0935<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Main Purpose of the Job<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The incumbent will provide technical assistance and contribute to the provision of the district approach to all aspects of quality improvement in clinical care in all EQUIP support sites and programmes.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Location<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Ghana.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key Performance Areas<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Implement the defined QI programme within allocated area.<\/li>\n<li>Deliver and address issues of quality in health systems including clinical services such as adult HIV treatment and general chronic care, HIV wellness programmes, tuberculosis screening and care, Nurse-initiated and managed ART, PMTCT, Paediatric diagnosis, linkage to care and treatment and sexual and reproductive health.<\/li>\n<li>Integrate preventative health services and awareness of social determinants of health.<\/li>\n<li>Monitor and review the implementation and progress of the programme.<\/li>\n<li>Review challenges and achievements and institute corrective action.<\/li>\n<li>Compile and disseminate reports to relevant stakeholders.<\/li>\n<li>Integrate feedback from reports into programme implementation plan and subsequent progress reports.<\/li>\n<li>Identify training needs of staff for programme implementation (Internal and external) and develop training plan.<\/li>\n<li>Liaise with the Training stakeholders to address training needs.<\/li>\n<li>Monitor the delivery and quality of training.<\/li>\n<li>Participate in monitoring activities mandated by the Training programme<\/li>\n<li>Provide ongoing training, coaching, mentoring, feedback and support.<\/li>\n<li>Participate in ongoing mentorship programmes<\/li>\n<li>Evaluate the effectiveness of training by obtaining feedback (formal and informal) from stakeholders and\/or relevant assessments.<\/li>\n<li>Establish a baseline needs assessment for allocated area.<\/li>\n<li>Plan a tailored approach in conjunction with programme\/project manager\/project coordinator and technical experts taking into consideration the needs and priorities of the area.<\/li>\n<li>Develop a project plan and timeline for addressing the identified needs and priorities.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Required minimum education and training<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Diploma in General Nursing (with specialisation)<\/li>\n<li>Drivers licence and own transport; willingness to travel.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Minimum work experience<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>4 years\u2019 relevant experience.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>P<\/strong><strong>rofessional body registration<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Registered with the necessary professional body, if applicable.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Desirable additional education, work experience and personal abilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Certification in HIV Management and dispensing.<\/li>\n<li>Sound technical knowledge PMTCT, TB-HIV integration, Paediatric treatment and care. Knowledge of national and provincial health structures.<\/li>\n<li>Experience working in a donor funded organisation \/ NGO or project-based environment.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of clinical systems and data management.<\/li>\n<li>Experience in training, material development and quality improvement.<\/li>\n<li>Exceptional organisational and administrative skills together with working knowledge of Microsoft Office.<\/li>\n<li>Ordered and systematic in approach to tasks.
