With a circulation of 100,000 copies, it is the most widely read daily newspaper in the country. The paper has seen a large number of editors replaced over the course of its history, particularly post-independence, after a string of successive military coups that resulted in the sacking editors who opposed the government policies. In 1979 the newspaper was renamed the People&#8217;s Daily Graphic under Jerry Rawlings for a few years to remind the people that it belongs to them.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0Special Correspondence (Investigative Desk)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>We are looking for an experienced, dynamic and results in oriented journalist with good team-playing and excellent editorial skills to fill the following position:<\/p>\n<p><strong>SPECIAL CORRESPONDENT (INVESTIGATIVE DESK)\u00a0\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Collect, write and prepare a variety of stories for inclusion in the newspaper and graphic online both in general areas and areas of specialization.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key Accountabilities\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Thoroughly research and investigate news stories for publication<\/li>\n<li>Select stories to follow either with a general flavour or from an area of specialization when not assigned by the News Editor<\/li>\n<li>Collect information necessary to compile the story\/stories, for example by going out into the field and conducting interviews or doing desk based \/ web based research<\/li>\n<li>Compile stories ready for submitting \u2013 Edit prior to submitting and proofreading when required<\/li>\n<li>Work in groups on special stories\/investigations when required, with one writer taking a lead as necessary<\/li>\n<li>Contribute suggestions to the development of the website<\/li>\n<li>Contribute marketing ideas to position the newspaper brands and website as preferred products to our customers<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Skills\/Competencies<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Excellent written and verbal communication skills<\/li>\n<li>Good report writing skills<\/li>\n<li>Analytical with an eye for detail<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work to strict deadlines and for long periods<\/li>\n<li>Flexible attitude to working arrangements<\/li>\n<li>Strong computer literacy skills include page planning<\/li>\n<li>Research methodology skills desired but not essential<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Minimum Qualifications\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>1<sup>st<\/sup> Degree in Communication\/Journalism Studies or related field with 6 years working experience in newspaper\/online journalism<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>OR<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Diploma in Journalism from a reputable institution with 8 years working experience in newspaper\/ online journalism<\/li>\n<li>Member of Ghana Journalists Association<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>How to Apply<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>If you wish to apply, please send a detailed CV together with a covering letter and contact telephone number to<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Director,<br \/>\nHR &amp; Administration Graphic Communications Group Ltd.<br \/>\n<\/strong><strong>P.O.
