The U.S. Mission in Accra, Ghana is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for the position of Administrative Assistant in the Naval Medical Research Unit Three (NAMRU-3) Ghana Detachment office of the Embassy.<\/p>\n
Job Title: Administrative Assistant<\/strong> \u2022 The position will serve as the Administrative Assistant of the Naval Medical Research Unit Three (NAMRU-3) Ghana Detachment and would provide continuity and stability for the Section. Qualifications Required & Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n Applicants must address each required qualification listed below with specific and comprehensive information supporting each item. Failure to do so may result in a determination that the applicant is not qualified.<\/em><\/p>\n \u2022 EDUCATION:<\/strong><\/em> University Degree in political science, sociology, economics, psychology, or history is required. SELECTION PROCESS:<\/strong> <\/em><\/p>\n When qualified, applicants who are U.S. Citizen Eligible Family Members (USEFMs) and\/or preference-eligible U.S. Veterans are given a preference in hiring. Therefore, it is essential that these applicants make themselves known as having a hiring preference and specifically address the required qualifications above in their application.<\/p>\n HIRING PREFERENCE ORDER:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n (1) USEFM who is ALSO a preference-eligible U.S. Veteran ADDITIONAL SELECTION CRITERIA:<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n 1.<\/strong> Management may consider the following when determining successful candidacy: nepotism, conflicts of interest, budget, and residency status.
\nBASIC FUNCTION OF POSITION<\/strong><\/em><\/p>\n
\n\u2022 The incumbent would be responsible for the administrative\/personnel management, procurement, program scientific records reporting and maintenance for the entire detachment with overall supervision from the Deputy Officer-in-Charge.<\/p>\n
\n\u2022 EXPERIENCE:<\/strong> <\/em>A minimum of 3 years\u2019 experience in administrative responsibilities, office management, and scientific background related to medical science is required.
\n\u2022 LANGUAGE:<\/strong><\/em> Level IV – English ability (fluent) required. High degree of proficiency in both the written and spoken language, including the ability to translate. On occasion, the job holder may need to act as an interpreter. (Language proficiency will be tested).
\n\u2022 SKILLS AND ABILITIES:<\/strong><\/em> Proficient in computer operations; basic office computer software (MS Word, Excel, etc.); data management and analysis. Must be intimately familiar with the process of publishing manuscripts in peer reviewed journals. (Computer skills will be tested).<\/p>\n
\n(2) USEFM OR a preference-eligible U.S. Veteran

\n2.<\/strong> Current OR employees serving a probationary period are not eligible to apply. Current OR employees with an Overall Summary Rating of Needs Improvement or Unsatisfactory on their most recent Employee Performance Report (EPR) are not eligible to apply.
\n3.<\/strong> Current NOR employees hired on a Family Member Appointment (FMA) or a Personal Service Agreement (PSA) are not eligible to apply within the first 90 calendar days of their employment, unless they have a When Actually Employed (WAE) work schedule.
\n4.<\/strong> The candidate must be able to obtain and hold a security clearance.
\n5.<\/strong> Candidates who are EFMs, USEFMs, AEFMs, or MOHs must have at least one year remaining on their sponsor\u2019s tour of duty to be considered eligible to apply for this position.<\/p>\n
