Job Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n Job Title: Manager, Legal<\/strong><\/p>\n Job Purpose:<\/strong><\/p>\n Reporting to the Head of Legal, the Legal Manager will assist in providing legal advice to the Bank to help make the right decisions and comply with the legal requirements for the Bank\u2019s operations.<\/p>\n The role holder will be responsible for studying the laws and government policies in relation to the financial sector and make the necessary recommendation on Bank\u2019s policies through the Head of Legal. The KEY RESPONSIBILITIES<\/strong><\/p>\n Manager, Legal will help advise on contractual risk including the monitoring and evaluation of the performance of defaulting customers and study the governance policy in relation to the financial sector and make the necessary recommendation on bank policy. \nLegal Manager will assist in the monitoring and evaluation of the performance of defaulting customers and effective coordination of the Documentation and Litigation Units of the Department in order to
\nachieve the Bank\u2019s objectives.<\/p>\n
\nProvide support on court proceeding\/action against persons, enterprises, partnership, companies or business entities who are refusing to pay but are capable or have valuable to \u2018attach\u2019 in satisfaction of judgment debt.
\nHelp provide timely legal advice, briefings, and recommendations on key legal issues to stakeholders including applicable legislation\u2019s, banking codes, governance regulations as may be applicable.
\nAssist in the roll out of legal risk policies and procedures, ensuring that senior management fully understands the scope and requirements of Legal and related policies and that all necessary dispensations are in place and current.
\nAssist in training and coaching all staff in the Legal Department in the finer details of their duties.
\nHelp manage the process of engaging external counsel including effective instructions and negotiating appropriate fee structures for the transaction \/case in question.
\nAssist with the structure and negotiation of investments.
\nAssist in reviewing progress of outstanding litigation, liaise with and manage external lawyers.
\nHelp continuously to monitor compliance with statutory obligations and advise management accordingly.
\nHelp prepare, review and modify contractual instruments to assist and support various business activities.
\nProsecuting Bank\u2019s cases in court.<\/p>\n
\nA good understanding of the corporate environment as well as the banking industry.
\nStrong interpersonal skills and a team player abilities
\nExcellent relationship management and communication skills.
\nDemonstrate success in managing and conducting a variety of litigation cases.
\nShow evidence of clear analytical thinking.
\nTeam focus, managing performance including coaching skills.
\nSelf-motivated, flexible, mature, articulate in speech and presentation.
\nA qualified lawyer with a minimum of five (5) years post qualification experience.
\nLitigation experience.<\/p>\n
