Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n

Job Title: Wages Field Cordinator<\/strong><\/p>\n

Position location: Daboase, Western Region, Ghana
\nReports to: WAGES Project Coordinator based in Accra
\nDuration: 2 years with possibility of renewal
\nApplication Deadline: 5 August 2017<\/p>\n

WUSC and CECI have formed a consortium led by WUSC for the design and implementation of a West Africa Governance and Economic Sustainability in Extractive Areas (WAGES) project (20162021).<\/p>\n

WAGES aims to support sustainable, broad-based and inclusive economic development in three countries in West Africa, Burkina Faso, Ghana and Guinea.<\/p>\n

WAGES will contribute to inclusive local economic development by contributing to the creation of jobs, especially for women and youth, reducing poverty and generating revenues for local businesses.<\/p>\n

WAGES will support gender equality by strengthening women\u2019s ability to
\nparticipate in community decision-making processes, increasing women\u2019s access to market relevant and business development skills training, and ensuring that women benefit from new employment opportunities generated by the project.<\/p>\n

Nature and Scope<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Field Coordinator is responsible for the implementation of WAGES project in the two districts (Prestea-Huni Valley and Wassa East Districts). The incumbent\u00a0manages relationships with key stakeholders, including local government representatives, the private sector (mining companies, training institutions etc.) and the civil society groups (women associations, youth associations, etc.) the two districts.<\/p>\n

Reporting to WAGES Project Coordinator, the Field Coordinator will:
\nTechnical Coordination & Project Management
\nBe Responsible for managing the performance of the field team;
\nRepresent the project in the two districts and sometimes second the Country Director to represent the project at the National level.
\nEnsure monthly, quarterly and annual planning of project activities in the field;
\nEnsure the implementation of monthly, quarterly and annual work plans;
\nSupervise the development and submission of monthly budgets related to the operation of the filed offices and the implementation of activities;
\nIn collaboration with the Project Finance team, ensure efficient and effective management, in accordance with the procedures and standards in force at WUSC, of funds and assets made available to the field team;
\nActively participate in the collection and updating of information including gender issues and youth inclusion and success stories for the preparation of monthly, quarterly and annual activities reports;
\nEnsure the management of local and Canadian volunteers in the areas;
\nPrepare and organize field visits for project coordination, WUSC management, authorities, donors and other partners;
\nEnsure the strict application by the field team, the code of procedures and conduct and compliance with the safety plan;<\/p>\n

Contribute and ensure the achievement of the expected results of project planning (ie, the project implementation plan (PIP), annual work plans (AWP) and budgets) using Results-based management approaches and tools (RBMs);
\nParticipate in the development and implementation of specific strategies for cross-cutting themes (capacity building, gender equality, private sector mobilization, environmental sustainability) of WAGES;
\nCoordinate on a day-to-day basis for the project activities for which he \/ she is responsible in conjunction with staff, consultants, volunteers, partners and the Project Coordinator.
\nWork with colleagues and partners to ensure the effective mobilization, orientation and coaching of volunteers.<\/p>\n

Reporting<\/strong><\/p>\n

Work with team members to produce regular reports in a timely manner as planned in the PIP and AWPs;
\nDevelop, document, and consolidate key information and best practices on governance and sustainable economic development in Ghana;
\nMaintain regular communication with the Project Coordinator and other project team members in Ghana to ensure appropriate support.<\/p>\n

Partner Liaison & Coordination<\/strong><\/p>\n

Establish a strong working relationship with the partners, including planning, capacity building, and information sharing;
\nCoordinate regularly with other development actors in Western Region to ensure harmonization and synergy with similar initiatives<\/p>\n

Required Skills or Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n

Education<\/strong>
\n\u2022 A postgraduate university degree in international development, project management or a relevant field.<\/p>\n

Experience and Competencies<\/strong><\/p>\n

A minimum of 5 years of progressively more responsible assignments related to management of development initiatives;
\nA minimum of 5 years working experience in Ghana; experience in Western Region will be an asset;
\nProven knowledge and experience in natural resources management, economic development, and local governance;
\nDemonstrated capacity to work in cross-sectoral collaboration;
\nExperience working with donor agencies, including a solid understanding of Results Based Management (RBM) and environmental and gender policies and reporting requirements;
\nProven technical and financial managerial and administrative and organizational skills;
\nProven experience with multidisciplinary staff and international consultants and volunteers;
\nDiplomatic skills and the knowledge of cross-cultural, interpersonal communication;
\nProven knowledge of and commitment to the concepts of Gender Equality and Youth Inclusion;
\nExperience in capacity building with local partner organizations and a commitment to a participatory partnership approach to development;
\nProven experience working with information technology (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, internet);
\nCapacity to travel and live in remote areas.<\/p>\n

Language<\/strong><\/p>\n

Superior oral and written skills required in English;
\nOral skills in one of the local languages spoken in the western region of Ghana;<\/p>\n
