Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n

Job Title:\u00a0Senior Technical Specialist\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Ghana Country Office of Jhpiego Corporation is currently looking for passionate and dynamic persons to fill the following position: Senior Technical Specialist<\/p>\n

JOB SUMMARY<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Senior Technical Specialist will provide technical leadership and work closely with the Ghana Health Services, Ministry of Health and other stakeholders and partners to implement project activities.<\/p>\n

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES<\/strong><\/p>\n

i. Planning and Implementation
\nDevelop detailed implementation plan and schedule for project activities and field travel
\nReview and update plans as needed and communicate changes
\nDevelop budget for training and workshops and submit for activity advances
\nAdminister activity related funds as per policy and reconcile with finance team after activities
\nMonitor implementation progress, activity budgets and make revisions as needed to meet targets and objectives
\nAnticipate potential challenges and identify proactive measure to mitigate against them
\nii. Technical Oversight
\nReview and provide technical oversight to project plans and activities
\nParticipate in training and technical updates to ensure that knowledge, skills and competencies are current
\niii. Coordination, Networking and Representation
\nForm linkages and connections with important gatekeepers and decision makers
\nCoordinate planned activities with relevant stakeholders, partners, leadership and staff and ensure support and collaboration<\/p>\n

Represent Jhpiego and the project in meetings, workshops and events
\niv. Research and development
\nProvide technical inputs in developing learning agenda activities
\nReview learning agenda processes and protocols\/tools
\nParticipate in learning agenda information gathering sessions
\nSupport learning agenda activity report writing and dissemination
\nUse recommendations from learning agenda activities to improve health service delivery and outcomes
\nv. Training and Workshops
\nDevelop detailed training schedule and agenda
\nDevelop and \/ or modify training materials including facilitation \/ trainers notes
\nConduct training as planned
\nWrite and submit training reports
\nvi. Record Keeping and Reporting
\nEnsure adequate and organized record keeping of all project activities including plans, implementation progress, workshops, supervision visits and training
\nShare records with relevant stakeholders and supervisors as needed
\nMonitor performance against results framework
\nCollate and provide data for entry into JADE
\nWrite reports as needed or tasked
\nWrite success stories and case studies and share to relevant audiences
\nTake photographs and get signed informed consent
\nWrite and submit timely reports as required including key issues, achievements, successes, challenges and lessons learned.
\nvii. Supervisory Visits
\nConduct individual coaching, mentoring and supervisory visits to designated participants and project staff
\nviii. Communication
\nEnsure timely and adequate communication among all Jhpiego Ghana staff<\/p>\n

NOTE:<\/strong> All Jhpiego staff members, regardless of their level of responsibilities are expected to:
\nModel the Jhpiego mission and values
\nParticipate in the business development process
\nContribute to the knowledge sharing and transfer process
\nMake responsible decisions that result in time and cost containment and clear accountability
\nParticipate in multiple teams, adopt team spirit, take responsibility for action items assigned and provide feedback as needed
\nMultitask, be able to manage competing priorities and be able to prioritize in order to meet program and\/or organizational objectives<\/p>\n

Required Skills or Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n

Masters or other advanced qualification in a health profession (e.g. Medicine, Nursing, Midwifery)
\nAt least 7-years\u2019 experience in CHPS implementation
\nPrevious experience with providing clinical training to service providers is essential
\nPrevious experience in supportive supervisory roles is advantageous
\nExcellent writing, analytical, communication, training and organization skills
\nWillingness to travel within country<\/p>\n
