Under the guidance and direct supervision of the Country Director, the Communications Analyst in a medium size of large office implements the corporate communications strategy, as well as provides inputs to the design, management and implementation of the Country Office communications and publication strategies which are geared to influence the development agenda, promote public and media outreach and mobilize political and financial support for UNDP.<\/p>\n

The Communications Analyst may supervise and lead the communications staff of the country office and maintains a regular working relationship with the Regional Communications Adviser. The Communications Analyst works in close collaboration with the Management Support and Business Development, Programme and Operations teams, staff of other UN Agencies, UNDP Communications Group staff (Regional Communications Adviser and HQ) and Government officials, international and local media, subject matter experts, multi-lateral and bi-lateral donors and civil society ensuring successful UNDP communication strategy implementation.<\/p>\n

Job Title:\u00a0Communications Analyst<\/strong><\/p>\n

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES<\/strong><\/p>\n

Planning and design of internal and external strategies for communications and outreach<\/p>\n

\u2022 Preparation and conduct of communications needs assessments for CO (projects, country programme and corporate change initiatives, etc)<\/p>\n

\u2022 Drafting\/editing of CO communications and outreach strategy based on CO strategic priorities and the UNDP External Communications Action Plan.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Analysis of requirements and synthesis of proposals on ways to integrate advocacy and communication strategies into all aspects of UNDP\u2019s development programme during programme and project formulations.<\/p>\n

2. Implementation of the CO publications strategy and plan<\/p>\n

\u2022 Implementation of the CO publications strategy and plan, based on the corporate publications policy.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Identification of storylines for publications and drafting of substantive articles contributing to debates on key development issues.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Coordination and management of CO publication activities, such as content management, norms for publishing, design, etc.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Contact with printers and other suppliers to ensure production and ensure publications dissemination.<\/p>\n

3. Supervision of the design and maintenance of the UNDP web site, intranet, CO web-based knowledge management<\/p>\n

4. Supports the business development<\/p>\n

\u2022 Promotion and maintenance of public information campaigns on issues including UNDP activities, UN Reform, and Sustainable Development Goals.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Promotion and dissemination of corporate advocacy materials for launching flagship initiatives and publications such as the Human Development Report.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Packaging and submission of programme initiatives for donor review in collaboration with programme staff and supervisor.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Maintenance of increased coverage and understanding of the UNDP\u2019s work in the country or practice area through local and global media stories as guided by the UNDP External Communications Action Plan, provision of newsworthy information to national public and, where possible, donors.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Organization of roundtable discussions, press conferences, briefing sessions, interviews, launches, etc.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Forging of a \u201cOne UN\u201d image through publicizing the significance of local UN reform efforts, joint programmes, common services. Organization and implementation of joint UN information campaigns (UN Day, World AIDS Day, etc.)<\/p>\n

\u2022 Ensure access to journalists to subject-matter experts and UNDP spokespeople.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Drafting\/production of regular updates to donors.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Preparation of donor reports, civic education and community awareness where appropriate to support projects.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Effective responses to inquiries for public information materials.t system<\/p>\n

\u2022 Supervision of the design and maintenance of the office web sites based on corporate requirements in cooperation with the ICT staff.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Preparation of the content for the web sites and social media platforms to ensure consistency of the materials.<\/p>\n

5. Facilitation of knowledge building and management<\/p>\n

\u2022 Identification and synthesis of best practices and lessons learned directly linked to programme country goals and activities.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Sound contributions to knowledge networks and communities of practice including corporate communications repositories.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Provision of training, consultancy and advice to UNDP staff on internal and external communications for development.<\/p>\n

REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE<\/strong><\/p>\n

Education: Master’s degree in Media relations, Mass Communication, Journalism, publishing<\/p>\n

Experience: Up to at least 7 years of relevant experience at the national or international level in public relations, communications or advocacy. Experience in the usage of computers and office software packages, good knowledge and experience in handling of web-based management systems Experience:<\/p>\n
