The BCS Project is intended to foster positive health practices in households and communities and support changes in cultural norms that will reinforce and maintain these practices in the Western, Central and Greater Accra Regions. The project will maximize the use of relevant approaches, materials and media products already developed and successfully used in Ghana to provide a range of communications support for the behaviour changes needed to improve health in the priority technical areas of reproductive health; maternal and child health; malaria; HIV\/AIDS; water\/sanitation; and other infectious diseases to over 5 million rural and urban people.<\/p>\n

The Regional Coordinator will be responsible for the direct implementation of the key components of this project through a variety of capacity building, advocacy, focused behaviour change communication activities, community mobilization, and community-based distribution of health products and marketing interventions that can be sustained over time. S\/he will work in close partnership with the Government of Ghana, other USAID implementing partners, non-governmental organizations, community and elected leaders, faith-based organizations, and various other local partners.<\/p>\n

The Regional Coordinator will be based in Accra but co-locate with staff of the project in the focus regions (Western, Central and Greater Accra). S\/he will be required to travel to all regions as needed. S\/he will report to the Chief of Party.<\/p>\n

Key Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n

Work with Chief of Party in the design, development of project strategies and plans, ensuring they are in line with the project objectives, strategies and principles, and CARE\u2019s mission and vision.
\nMonitor and evaluate activities in collaboration with partners and other stakeholders, so as to ensure the efficient and effective achievement of project objectives
\nEnsure monthly documentation of project best practices
\nLead community sensitization interventions in all participation regions in collaboration with partners and in line with project objectives
\nSupervise the three regional mangers and oversee work done in each region
\nFacilitate linkages, learning and synergy between the project and other Partner offices
\nPrepare and submit monthly reports on all project activities to M&E Officer and Chief of Party<\/p>\n

Required Skills or Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n

A Masters degree in social sciences or relevant development studies from a recognized university
\nAt least five year field experience in Civil Society Strengthening and\/or Governance Projects.
\nExperience in capacity building programming for Civil Society strengthening, or experience in participatory and adult education techniques
\nStrong written and oral communication skills
\nStrong interpersonal communication and team development skills
\nA natural talent for networking and partnership-building
\nA strong ability to think creatively and independently, with an enquiring mind able to question project findings and establish appropriate programming approaches based on those findings.
\nComputer skills
\nTraining\/ Facilitation skills<\/p>\n
