The Project Manager will be responsible for overall management and coordination for the Making Ghanaian Girls Great! team in the mobilisation and delivery of the project\u2019s results. They will provide the day-to-day leadership of the team and will report to the Country Director. The Project Manager will be responsible for driving the project\u2019s overall vision of ensuring that all existing beneficiaries successfully complete primary, transition into secondary school, and are nurtured with life-skills and enough selfconfidence to pursue fulfilled and economically productive lives, as well as improving learning outcomes for all students in the project.<\/p>\n

Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n

Job Title: Project Manager<\/strong><\/p>\n

Key Duties and Accountabilities<\/strong><\/p>\n

Management and Operations
\n\u2013 Provide overall management and coordination of all work streams including Education, Community,
\nTechnical and Operations in the mobilisation and delivery of program results;
\n\u2013 Directly line-managing the project team, providing coaching, mentoring and quality assurance of their work;
\n\u2013 Recruitment and performance appraisals of staff and identifying their training needs;
\n\u2013 Writing of progress reports for internal and external use according to the standard or specifications required by donor and Fund Managers or as may be required by the VF leadership;
\n\u2013 Participate and lead program related workshops, review meetings, training and community engagement drives;
\n\u2013 Anticipate risk and take steps to mitigate them.
\nBudgeting and Financial controls
\n\u2013 Monitor funding commitments, project spending against budget, preparation and submission of required program progress and financial reports on a regular basis;
\n\u2013 Ensure financial processes comply with relevant sections of the financial manual, Donor and Fund Manager compliance protocols, and other partnership standards;<\/p>\n

\u2013 Anticipate major costs and cash flow requirements in order to mobilise appropriate funding streams.<\/p>\n

Monitoring and Evaluation:<\/strong>
\n\u2013 Manage all areas of M&E, to ensure that internal monitoring is carried out effectively and that external impact evaluations are being conducted in the manner intended;
\n\u2013 Work with the Monitoring and Evaluation Team to develop and track relevant Project documents and systems such as the Logframe, M&E Framework and monitoring tools;
\n\u2013 Apply the internal monitoring and evaluation system in collaboration with the project team to ensure accurate record keeping, adequate and relevant data collection and analysis;
\n\u2013 Ensure the documentation of lessons learned and best practices are shared through internal and external VF knowledge sharing forums;
\n\u2013 Manage the relationship and deliverables of the external evaluation partner in line with donor requirements.
\nManaging partners, suppliers and stakeholders
\n\u2013 Work with the national, regional and district GES stakeholders to ensure Project sustainability;
\n\u2013 Sustain positive partnerships and networking relationships with key stakeholders on projects to influence policies and practices;
\n\u2013 Actively communicate and maintain good working relationships with external suppliers who collaborate with Varkey Foundation in various ways in the delivery of our distance learning models (e.g. technology supplier, service maintenance contractors and the satellite internet providers);
\n\u2013 Highlight best practices emerging from project at sector platforms and other relevant public events.<\/p>\n

Child Protection responsibilities<\/strong>
\n\u2013 Have oversight responsibility over monitoring compliance of child protection and do no harm standards in accordance with donor standards;
\n\u2013 Supervise the periodic review of VF CP policy in line with donor requirements;
\n\u2013 Monitor suppliers, sub-contractors and stakeholders compliance of CP policy.<\/p>\n

Person Specifications<\/strong><\/p>\n

Qualifications & Experience<\/strong>
\n\u2013 University degree in Education, Development studies, Gender Studies, Development Economics or similar related or relevant fields, although other degrees will be considered in light of candidate\u2019s experience. Master\u2019s degree will be an advantage
\n\u2013 Minimum of 5 years field experience with NGOs in developing countries
\n\u2013 Experience in distance learning and pro-girls education development projects and familiarity with the girls education sector in Ghana
\n\u2013 Previous experience of budget management within donor funded project<\/p>\n

Key skills & Competencies<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2013 Strong project management skills and experience managing donor funded projects
\n\u2013 Highly functional knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint and other ICT skills required
\n\u2013 People management skills and experience in line managing teams of 7+ staff
\n\u2013 Skills and experience in external stakeholder engagement including donors, government and private sector and experiences with coordination of multistakeholder forums
\n\u2013 Skills in report writing and monitoring and evaluation<\/p>\n

Personal Attributes<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2013 Self-starter and team player with high standards
\n\u2013 Ability to multi task and work under some level of pressure
\n\u2013 Ability to work in a cross-cultural environment and with multi- and interdisciplinary teams<\/p>\n
