World Vision started working in Ghana in 1979. It currently implements 29 Area Programmes (APs) in all the 10 administrative regions in Ghana and six major special projects. The goal of World Vision Ghana is that by 2021, we would have contributed to the sustained well-being of 4.5 million vulnerable children, their families and the communities in which they live through health and nutrition, water and sanitation, education, food security, micro-enterprise development and Christian Commitments programmes.<\/p>\n

Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n

Job Title:\u00a0Mechanical Technician<\/strong><\/p>\n

Purpose of the position:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Support all field operations by ensuring proper usage, regular maintenance and repairs of all assigned vehicles and motor bikes for high performance and to undertake driving assignments within and outside the project areas as required<\/p>\n

Major Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n

Carry out routine maintenance of all project vehicles including the heavy duty vehicles and drilling rigs<\/p>\n

Supporting the drilling team at site during drilling activities making sure all safety precautions are adhered to.<\/p>\n

Maintain log books and report regularly to Maintenance Supervisor on the performance of all vehicles including the heavy duty vehicles and drilling rigs<\/p>\n

Diagnose faults and carry out repairs where applicable and advice Maintenance Supervisor and staff on the repairs of vehicles such as the heavy duty vehicles<\/p>\n

Assist in the recovery of broken down vehicles<\/p>\n

Give technical assistance and coordinate the procurement of genuine vehicle parts for maintenance and repairs<\/p>\n

Give technical guidance to other vehicle users to polish driving skills and ensure the safe use of the vehicles<\/p>\n

Ensure that project vehicles are clean and have all the requisite safety gargets such as fire extinguishers, dusters, basic tools and equipment and also valid road worthy certificates and insurance<\/p>\n

Qualifications: Education\/Knowledge\/Technical Skills and Experience<\/p>\n

The following may be acquired through a combination of formal or self-education, prior experience or on-the-job training:<\/p>\n

Motor Mechanic Certificate (MVM) + 3 years relevant experience or Motor Vehicle Technician (MVT) 1\/2 + at least 5 years relevant experience.<\/p>\n

Professional driver\u2019s license (D or F Class) for at least 5 years, preferably experience with a heavy duty trucks.<\/p>\n

Technical Skills & Abilities:<\/p>\n

To be able to undertake general servicing of vehicles and diagnose faults, preferably on diesel engines<\/p>\n

Ability to conduct minor repairs on vehicles<\/p>\n

Ability to write reports (basic)<\/p>\n

Ability to communicate clearly in English<\/p>\n

Working Environment \/ Conditions:<\/p>\n

Work environment: Field-based<\/p>\n

Travel: 60 % Domestic\/international travel is required.<\/p>\n
