There are 80 member states, including 54 in Africa (Regional Member Countries).\u00a0 The Bank\u2019s development agenda is delivering the financial and technical support for transformative projects that will significantly reduce poverty through inclusive and sustainable economic growth. In order to sharply focus the objectives of the Ten Year Strategy (2013 \u2013 2022) and ensure greater developmental impact, five major areas (High 5s), all of which will accelerate our delivery for Africa, have been identified for scaling up, namely; energy, agro-business, industrialization, integration and improving the quality of life for the people of Africa.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Internship<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Participants in the Program are selected on a competitive basis, based on business needs of the Bank.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Objectives:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The broad objectives of the program are to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide students with an opportunity to acquire professional and practical experience at the African Development Bank.<\/li>\n<li>Provide the Bank with a pool of potential candidates for future recruitment purposes.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>However applicants should not expect the internship to lead to immediate employment with the Bank.<\/p>\n<div class=\"csc-header\">\n<p><strong>Duties and responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<ul>\n<li>The fields of study from which interns are selected must be within the job families of the Bank, particularly Economics, Agriculture, Private Sector Development, Human Capital Development (Education and Health), Environment, Finance, Infrastructure Development, Human Resources Management, Information Technology, Communications, Law, Internal Audit, Budget, Governance or any other field of study that the Bank may deem relevant to its operations.<\/li>\n<li>Special consideration shall be given to students who are working on projects that have a direct bearing on the mission of the Bank.<\/li>\n<li>Internships shall be performed either at the Bank\u2019s headquarters in Abidjan (C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire) or in any one of the Bank\u2019s field offices or Regional Centres.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Timeline for the 2018 Program :<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Summer \u2013 Session<\/strong>: June through December 2018.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Internships shall be granted to each candidate for a\u00a0<strong>period not less than three (3) months and not more than six (6) months<\/strong>. The internship is authorized only once for any candidate.<\/li>\n<li>Interns shall be responsible for their air travel (where applicable) to and from the Bank\u2019s location as well as their upkeep.<\/li>\n<li>Interns shall be responsible for their medical insurance coverage and for obtaining entry and residence visas in the host country of the Bank.<\/li>\n<li>Eligible Interns will be provided with a monthly stipend.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<div class=\"csc-header\">\n<p><strong>Selection Criteria<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p class=\"legal\"><strong>Including desirable skills, knowledge and experience<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Eligibility Criteria:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>To be eligible for internship, applicants must meet the following criteria:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Students, aged between eighteen\u00a0<strong>(18) to thirty (30) years<\/strong>, and\u00a0<strong>currently enrolled in a Master\u2019s level degree program<\/strong>\u00a0or its equivalent in a recognized public or private institution of higher learning.<\/li>\n<li>The candidate can apply for an internship within\u00a0<strong>one (1) year<\/strong>\u00a0of having obtained such a degree.<\/li>\n<li>Provide a letter from their school confirming their enrollment or a copy of the above mentioned Degree.<\/li>\n<li>Citizens of one of the Bank\u2019s member countries.<\/li>\n<li>Applicants must be fluent in at least one of the Banks\u2019s two working languages (English or French).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Strategic Focus areas:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The specific disciplines and specialist professional areas are aligned to the Bank\u2019s Ten-Year Strategy (TYS) and the gender strategy.\u00a0 In addition to the fields that are in the job families of the Bank, focus will be on the following areas:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Power, Energy, Climate and Green Growth<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Agriculture, Human &amp; Social Development<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Private Sector, Infrastructure and Industrialization<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Economics, Statistics<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Governance and Knowledge Management<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Finance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Legal<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Human Resources and Corporate Services: IT, Language Services, General Services &amp; Procurement, HR Management<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Audit, Anti-Corruption<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Evaluation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Communication &amp; External Relations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Public Relations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Established in 1964, the African Development Bank (AfDB) is the premier pan-African development institution, promoting economic growth and social progress across the continent.
