The High Commission of Canada in Accra, Ghana, is soliciting applications for Assistant level positions. Assistant level positions may work in various sections of the mission (migration, administration, development, trade) and undertake tasks such as providing administrative support and services; providing and creating information and\/or documentation; providing support for ongoing program activities; responding to requests from clients and performing other duties as required.<\/p>\n

Essential qualifications:<\/strong><\/p>\n

Applicants must clearly and explicitly demonstrate in both their CV and Self-Assessment Screening Form that they meet the essential qualifications on education, language and experience criteria listed to be screened into this competition. Only candidates that meet the language, experience and education qualifications will be invited for assessment.<\/p>\n

Education:
\n\u2022 Minimum bachelor\u2019s degree from a recognized university.<\/p>\n

Languages:
\n\u2022 Fluency in English (oral & written)<\/p>\n

Experience:
\n\u2022 *Recent significant experience working in an office environment in a support capacity.
\n\u2022 *Recent significant experience in use of computers, including MS Office and internet research skills.
\n\u2022 **Recent experience in liaising and working with clients (internal or external), partners or stakeholders.
\n*Recent significant experience is defined as a minimum of 2 years within the last 5 years.
\n** Recent experience is defined as a minimum of 1 year within the last 3 years.<\/p>\n

Knowledge:
\nKnowledge of standard office procedures & practices:
\n\u2022 filing correspondence
\n\u2022 responding to routine inquiries in writing
\n\u2022 managing agendas and schedules
\n\u2022 making bookings and arrangements
\n\u2022 dispatching and receiving items
\n\u2022 maintaining supplies and inventories<\/p>\n

Abilities
\n\u2022 Ability to use office software products including Microsoft Office proficiently
\n\u2022 Ability to establish and maintain effective and professional interpersonal relationships with clients, colleagues, and supervisors<\/p>\n

Asset Qualifications:
\nPreference may be given to candidates who have the following asset qualifications:
\n\u2022 Experience working in a similar capacity at a diplomatic mission or international organization
\n\u2022 Knowledge of the Canadian Immigration and Refugee Protection Act & Regulations
\n\u2022 Experience in accounting, financial transactions, tracking budgets, or use of ERP software (SAP)
\n\u2022 Written and spoken fluency in French<\/p>\n

If candidates meet the factors listed in the asset qualifications they must also clearly demonstrate how they meet these factors in CV and letter.<\/p>\n

Organizational Needs:<\/p>\n

Operational Requirements:
\n\u2022 May be requested to work overtime (evenings\/weekends) as required.<\/p>\n

Condition(s) of Employment:
\n\u2022 Ability to obtain and retain a Government of Canada Enhanced Reliability security screening;
\n\u2022 Ability to meet the medical requirements as defined by the employer. Successful candidate(s) may be required to undergo a medical evaluation.<\/p>\n
