Description
\nWorld Education, Inc. seeks local candidates for two Sector Technical Programme Leads (Northern and Southern) based in Tamale and Accra, Ghana pending award from DFID\/Girls\u2019 Education Challenge\/Leave No Girl Behind. The programme aims to improve the literacy and numeracy skills of highly marginalized out-of-school girls and transition them into formal school or employment. This programme seeks to decrease key barriers to access quality education, opportunities for employment and improving safety of highly marginalized girls in schools and their communities, while increasing girls\u2019 knowledge and adoption of positive behaviours, empowering them to become leaders and role models within their communities.<\/p>\n

The Sector Technical Programme Lead reports to the Programme Director and is responsible for overseeing and coordinating the implementation of programme activities with downstream NGO partners to meet the outcomes in agreed work plans. The Sector Technical Lead will head the sector team responsible for ensuring support and capacity building in all aspects of the Programme for sub-awardee organizations. The Sector Technical Programme Lead will ensure and reinforce links between technical activities, donor and fund manager targets and the Government of Ghana strategic plans. The Sector Technical Lead will serve as ambassador and manage collaboration with regional district and community level decision makers, collaborators, and stakeholders.<\/p>\n

Responsibilities<\/p>\n

Ensure quality implementation of the formal and non-formal tracks of the programme at regional, district and community levels
\nManage a team consisting of technical programme associates, officer and a grants officer.
\nProvide technical guidance in implementing an accelerated learning programme, life skills, vocational and income generating activities.
\nLead advocacy interventions with regional, district and community key stakeholders
\nEnsure that Downstream NGO Partners follow Do No Harm principles and follow ethical implementation of program activities.
\nCollaborate with partners and stakeholders to establish capacity training relevant to their needs
\nWork closely with Programme Director and M&E Manager to elaborate integrated strategies, work plans and initiatives
\nSupport documentation and publication of activities and sharing of lessons learned and best practices
\nProvide progress reports according to donor and fund manager requirements.
\nOther responsibilities as assigned.
\nRequired Skills or Experience<\/p>\n

Minimum<\/p>\n

An advanced degree in education, international development, sociology or a related field
\nMinimum of 10 years of relevant experience in a similar role as a senior-manager in education programing
\nExperience in complementary basic education, life skills, vocational training, or girls\u2019 empowerment activities
\nExperience working with marginalized populations specifically out of school girls and girls with disabilities
\nDemonstrated experience with training methodologies for formal and non-formal education, mother tongue literacy, vocational training and income generating activities.
\nStrong understanding of the Ghanaian education sector, including district-level education
\nDemonstrated experience leading and building the capacity sub-awardee partners, including field-based staff, to meet project needs and deliverables is strongly desired;
\nExceptional written and spoken communication skills (including presentations) required
\nPreferred<\/p>\n

Experience planning and facilitating meetings, identifying community needs, working with community leaders and key stakeholders
\nKnowledgeable in education pedagogy with a gender and inclusive focus
\nDemonstrated training experience
\nDemonstrated experience building partnerships and networks between government and civil society
\nStrong analytical and reporting skills<\/p>\n
