It seeks to support the government and civil society organizations to rebuild targeted marine fisheries stocks that are a critical food souce in Ghana but current are reaching crisis level of depletion. To address this national food security issue in Ghana, SFMP supports the adoption of sustainable fishing practices and exploitation levels. The project contributes to the Government of Ghana\u2019s fisheries development objectives as well as the US Government\u2019s Feed the Future development objectives of poverty and hunger reduction. The project works closely with government agencies, fisheries authorities, policy makers and fisher folk in the entire coastal area of Ghana to achieve project goals.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0Communications Assistant<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This position is based in Accra, with periodic need to travel to coastal locations in all regions.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Terms of References:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Communications Assistant will report to the Communications and outreach\u00a0 Specialist (in addition to the Chief of Party) on all work to achieve the following:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Serve as the lead person on planning, organize and coordinating delivery of specific events and exhibitions, and serve as the lead person on aspects of event\/exhibition delivery;<\/li>\n<li>Serve as the lead person on graphics development for the communications unit and assist all SFMP staff with graphics development and use, especially working with the monitoring and evaluation unit during production of quarterly and annual reports;<\/li>\n<li>Serve as the primary lead for compilation of bi-weekly (Feed The Future Bullets) and monthly updates for USAID, and other regularly scheduled reports such as quarterly and annual reports;<\/li>\n<li>Serve as the lead person in maintaining a hard copy document inventory and track project document distribution related to specific monitoring and evaluation requirements and project deliverables (links with monitoring and evaluation unit);<\/li>\n<li>Serve as the lead person on aspects of online distribution of electronic materials to specific SFMP audiences, and coordinate with the SFMP admin unit to ensure appropriate planning and delivery for all printed materials;<\/li>\n<li>Represent SFMP with partners and project beneficiaries in the field, particularly in the development of success stories and documentation of activities connected to key SFMP deliverables;<\/li>\n<li>Lead in working with implementing partners and SFMP core staff to author, edit, and format technical documents and other written project materials as needed including, among others, success stories, fact sheets, newsletters, project reports, press releases, communication products;<\/li>\n<li>Lead on work with specific partners to articulate and document lessons learned that contribute to communications targets and constituency mobilization around key project outcomes;<\/li>\n<li>Develop a project public relations strategy, including developing key messages for diverse target audiences, to enhance effective communication of project Interventions to partners and stakeholders;<\/li>\n<li>Author and finalize workshop and event materials including concept notes, program agendas, event delivery checklists, and confirmation and coordination of key participants;<\/li>\n<li>Share responsibility with other communication unit staff to ensure that technically complex concepts are converted to plain simple language and that grammar meets USAID and CRC standards for publication;<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate with all SFMP staff and be the primary responsible person for maintaining input of all communications team events on the SFMP calendar<\/li>\n<li>Formulate communications messages for diverse target audiences.<\/li>\n<li>Manage a digital photo cataloguing system and provide written guidance to all project partners on selection and submittal of photos within specific categories;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Required Skills or Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Minimum Bachelor\u2019s Degree in Communications Studies or other relevant field;<\/li>\n<li>At least 3 years\u2019 experience in similar position;<\/li>\n<li>Proven ability to work with minimum direction and supervision;<\/li>\n<li>Working knowledge in using graphic development, Photoshop, Adobe Indesign, Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Publisher);<\/li>\n<li>Excellent interpersonal communications and organizational skills;<\/li>\n<li>Competency in performing multiple functional tasks;<\/li>\n<li>Previous experience with USAID funded projects and\/ or other international development experience<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"how-to-apply\"><strong>How to Apply<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>All suitably qualified and interested candidates who possess the minimum qualifications to fill this challenging position may apply by sending a CV, Cover Letter to\u00a0<a><strong>applications.SFMP@crcuri.org<\/strong><\/a><\/li>\n<li><strong>Application Deadline: July 20, 2018<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Please note: Only shorlisted candidates will be contacted<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>The hiring process \u00a0follows US Affirmative Action\/Equal Opportunity laws and does not discriminate in its consideration or hiring of individuals.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>SFMP is a 5-year (2014 \u2013 2019) food security project, headquartered in Accra.
