The Vibrant Village Foundation (VVF) is a private Foundation headquartered in Portland, Oregon State in the United States of America (U.S.A). Established in 2010, the Foundation provides direct assistance and grants to support Agriculture, Livelihoods, Health, Education, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene programs in marginalized and deprived communities in Africa, Asia and Latin America. VVF has supported programs in over 22 countries since its inception. In Ghana, the Foundation has contributed significantly towards poverty reduction in the Fielmuo community in the Upper West region of Ghana.<\/p>\n

Fielmuo is located in the Sissala West district and about 150km drive north of WA-the Upper West regional capital. VVF has facilitated the provision of safe drinking water, hygiene and sanitation (WASH), education, health and vocational skills training to over 14,237 people in 18 communities in the Sissala West and Lambussie districts. We have been inspired by the impact of our interventions in the lives of vulnerable communities to scale up to other communities in the target districts through the implementation of the \u2018Integrated Program for Economic and Social Transformation\u2019 (IMPREST). The goal of the program is to contribute to poverty reduction, improved wellbeing and resilience of vulnerable populations through the implementation of multi-sectorial programs; Education and Child Protection, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene, and Livelihood, Food Security and Empowerment of Women.<\/p>\n

Gender and Child Protection Officers<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022 We are searching for an energetic and self-motivated professional to take up the role of Gender and Child Protection Officer. The post-holder shall coordinate gender and child protection issues in target schools and communities. He\/She shall build and maintain good relationships with target beneficiaries and stakeholders. The specific roles and responsibilities of the post-holder are below:<\/p>\n

Roles and Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022 Serve as link between VVF and participating schools and communities
\n\u2022 Liaise with target schools to set up school-based clubs
\n\u2022 Mobilize schools and communities to implement the schools infrastructural development projects
\n\u2022 Facilitate the distribution of teaching and learning materials to schools
\n\u2022 Facilitate training on gender-based violence and child protection targeting school clubs, Parent Teachers Associations, School Management Committees and Unit Committees
\n\u2022 Support school clubs to develop and implement action plans
\n\u2022 Facilitate the development and strengthening of child abuse reporting channels
\n\u2022 Provide psychosocial counseling to extremely vulnerable and depressed children
\n\u2022 Strengthen capacity of community-based protection systems to respond to child rights concerns
\n\u2022 Ensure effective implementation of project work plans in a timely manner
\n\u2022 Ensure effective and consistent use of M&E tools
\n\u2022 Mainstream protection concepts and principles in all programs
\n\u2022 Represent VVF in Gender and Child Protection meetings in consultation with the Coordinator
\n\u2022 Document case studies, best practices and lessons learned from program implementation
\n\u2022 Prepare activity based reports
\n\u2022 Any other duty as may be assigned<\/p>\n

Qualification Required & Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n

Profile and experience of the post-holder<\/p>\n

\u2022 Degree in Gender, Social Work, Sociology or Development Studies or equivalent work experience
\n\u2022 At least 3 years\u2019 experience working in similar position with a non-profit organization
\n\u2022 Ability to ride a motor bike for long distances in remote communities
\n\u2022 Ability to work in multi-ethnic and culturally diverse stakeholders
\n\u2022 Analysis and problem-solving skills with ability to make sound judgment
\n\u2022 Attention to details, accuracy and timeliness in executing assigned responsibilities
\n\u2022 Good verbal and written communication skills in English required
\n\u2022 Ability to Speak Sissali and\/or Dagaare language is required
\n\u2022 Strong commitment to improving the well-being of families in rural communities
\n\u2022 Basic computer skills in word and excel<\/p>\n
