Job Title: Chief Finance Officer.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Job Summary<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Chief Finance Officer, oversees the management of businesses from a Financial Control, Treasury (Cash Management), Governance, and Financial Strategy & Forecasting perspective.
\nFinance: the role entails the overseeing of financial record keeping, company legal and secretarial compliance for all group entities
\nTreasury\/Banking: Oversee and monitor cash management and banking function and cash flows for all entities.
\nFinancial Strategy: Participating in new business development efforts, and ensuring that all new business efforts are aligned with the strategy, risk and compliance portfolio of the Company.
\nGovernance: Ensure compliance of all financial policies, statutory audits and take actions in the best interest of company.
\nReporting: the position requires collaboration across departments and reports directly to the Vice Chairman\/Board of Directors and administratively to CEO\u2019s.<\/p>\n

Duties and Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n

Finance
\nOversee the Finance department and ensure all reporting is done in terms of International Financial Reporting Standards (IFRS);
\nPrepare financial statements; oversee audit for operating entities and at group level and report back to board of directors;
\nConsolidate financial statements at group level;
\nPreparing budgets, monitoring actual performances and reporting variances;
\nReview and formulate accounting and financial procedures, policies and practices;
\nEnsure that all companies have complied with the requirements of all the relevant tax authorities;
\nCoach and mentor finance staff members;
\nEstablish and implement short and long range finance departmental goals, objectives, and policies and improve operating procedures;
\nReview contracts to ensure the company\u2019s risk exposure is minimised and that all contracts are financially sound;
\nEnsure all insurances are prepared and renewed as per all statutory and contractual obligations of the company;
\nEnsure that all rebates and other exemptions under the law for educational institutions are properly filed and documented;
\nEnsure that all variations to any agreement follow due process and after approval from Board are properly documented;
\nTreasury\/Banking
\nForecast 12 month cash flow positions, related borrowing needs, and available funds for investment and report requirements to the Board;
\nEnsure that sufficient funds are available to meet ongoing operational and capital investment requirements;
\nUse best practices to mitigate financial risks related to the interest rates on the company\u2019s borrowings, as well as on its foreign exchange positions;
\nMaintain banking relationships;
\nAssist in determining the company\u2019s proper capital structure;
\nArrange for working capital and debt financing as approved by the Board;
\nMake recommendation to the Board on investing the available funds to avail best returns.
\nFinancial Strategy & Forecasting
\nManage processes for financial forecasting, budgets and consolidation and reporting to the Company
\nProvide recommendations to strategically enhance financial performance and business opportunities.
\nEnsure that effective internal controls are in place and ensure compliance with IAS & IFRS and applicable local regulatory laws and rules for financial and tax reporting;
\nProvide Executive Management with advice on the financial implications of business activities;
\nEvaluate viability of business plans regarding business expansion and operational efficiencies;
\nInteract with Executive Management to provide support and recommendations through financial and management information analyses and reports.
\nGovernance
\nBe responsible for the statutory audit of the company and ensure a clean audit report;
\nEnsure compliance of all financial policies;
\nResponsible for all internal and external financial filing requirement and reporting all non-compliance;
\nReport any material matters relating to the Founders and Board as soon as they occur;
\nEnsure all financial reports are prepared and submitted to the Board well in time before Board meetings;
\nTake all actions in the best interest of the Company;
\nRequired Skills or Experience<\/p>\n

CRITERIA DESIRABLE\/ESSENTIAL CV \/ INTERVIEW*
\nMasters\u2019 degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or in a related discipline Essential CV
\nProfessional Certification in any of the above disciplines will be an advantage Desirable CV
\nSignificant knowledge and working experience in financial management across group of companies and partnerships, financial modelling Essential CV\/Interview
\nProven ability to develop relationships and partnership opportunities with corporates, academics, students and other external partners Essential CV\/Interview
\nGood understanding of Higher Education Institution needs and respond to them Essential CV\/Interview
