Job Title:\u00a0Business Development Manager<\/strong><\/p>\n

Job details:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022 To proactively develop Solarcentury\u2019s PV business in Ghana and ECOWAS providing short and long-term EPC revenue and market share growth. This is a new role within Solarcentury and is a key part of the company\u2019s international expansion strategy. The successful candidate will be a highly motivated self-starter with a proven track record in international sales. This position will be based in Ghana.<\/p>\n

\u2022 This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in the development of Solarcentury\u2019s international business, directly impacting the company\u2019s commercial growth, profitability and strategic direction. This position will require extensive international travel outside of Ghana both to Solarcentury HQ in London and to other African countries.<\/p>\n

\u2022 This is a role which will require flexibility in a changing environment and an appetite to play a part in growing a new business in Ghana and the wider ECOWAS area. Ghanaian nationals will be given preference if a candidate can demonstrate compliance with our expectations.<\/p>\n

Key responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022 Identifying and qualifying direct or indirect technically and commercially attractive PV sales opportunities with commercial customers in Ghana and ECOWAS and negotiating and closing contracts with them. This will include hybrid PV systems, commercial roof and utility scale PV plants.
\n\u2022 Creating commercial and technical proposals for direct customers and investors

\n\u2022 Local representation with existing clients \u2013 working in close collaboration with the West Africa Hybrid
\nBusiness Development Manager
\n\u2022 Periodically reporting on project pipeline, competition, market developments
\n\u2022 Commercial Responsibility: delivering on agreed annual revenue and gross margin targets working in
\nclose collaboration with the Africa Operations team
\n\u2022 Learning, reporting and recording on policy and legislation developments
\n\u2022 Developing and implementing a Sales Plan; target clients and client groups, sales proposition and
\nengagement. Identifying new West African markets and developing strategies to enter these markets
\n\u2022 Supporting the Director of Operations in identifying local contractors and suppliers. To include
\nproviders of professional services, installation contractors and suppliers of system components
\n\u2022 Liaison with GIPC and EC in pursuit of licences and providing guidance to Solarcentury on the
\nrequirements and options where the regulations are being developed \u2013 working with existing legal
\nadvisors JLD
\n\u2022 Development of a recruitment plan and working with Solarcentury HR team to identify and select
\n\u2022 Identifying a suitable office location and establishing a physical and media presence in Ghana\/West
\nAfrica
\n\u2022 Negotiating EPC contracts
\n\u2022 Understanding country requirements re: local content, tax and other barriers to entry. Finding
\nsolutions to overcome these barriers.<\/p>\n

Qualification Required & Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n

Educational Level:<\/strong>\u00a0E = Essential D = Desirable<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0\u2018Senior school\u2019 Level or Equiv: (E) Technical<\/strong>, Good understanding of PV and energy technologies and competing technologies. Experience with contracting for
\npower and\/or construction projects<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a01st degree, Degree Calibre (D) Commercial<\/strong>, Proven track record in high value international sales with ability to sell at exec\/board level, ideally in the PV or other renewable or construction and power markets<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a02nd degree (D), Financial:<\/strong>\u00a0Experience with and development and presentation of financial business models. Working with investors on \u00a3m project relationships with UK and international investors<\/p>\n

\u2022\u00a0Professional Qual. (D) Customers:<\/strong>\u00a0Network and relationships with overseas commercial customers, authorities, investors, developers, installers, supply chain<\/p>\n

Skills (including Specialist Skills)\/ Experience \/ Attributes<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022 Proven track record in high value high tech international sales, preferably in PV
\n\u2022 Experience doing business in Ghana & West Africa
\n\u2022 Experience working in EU or US or in Africa with multinationals.
\n\u2022 Highly self-motivated
\n\u2022 Strong initiative and creative thinking
\n\u2022 Fluent in English and ideally French and local languages
\n\u2022 Ability to work individually and as a team
\n\u2022 Excellent communication skills
\n\u2022 Managing travel and sales budgets
\n\u2022 Proven track record of delivering\/exceeding revenue and margin targets
\n\u2022 Strong networking capability and existing network
\n\u2022 Existing relationships with international investors, project developers, supply chain
\n\u2022 Experience in developing sales projects from scratch
\n\u2022 Understanding of PV and competing technologies
\n\u2022 Understanding of financial modelling
\n\u2022 Willingness to travel extensively abroad
\n\u2022 Understanding of the regulatory environment for grid tied solar and the wider energy industry in
\nWest Africa<\/p>\n
