SNV Ghana implements projects to improve individual lives and contributes to solving global challenges in the areas of Agriculture, Energy, and Water, Sanitation &amp; Hygiene. SNV\u2019s implementation approach focuses on developing innovative solutions to alleviate poverty through sustainable and locally-led development.<\/p>\n<p>Among SNV\u2019s Agriculture Projects is the Horti-Fresh programme. This is a 4-year sector programme (2018-2021) funded by the Dutch Embassy in Accra. The aim of the programme is \u201cA sustainable and internationally competitive vegetable and fruit sector that contributes to inclusive economic growth, food and nutrition security\u201d.\u00a0 The programme will contribute to three major areas that have been identified and that are in line with Ghana\u2019s development policy:\u00a0 a competitive and innovative high-value fruit and vegetable sector; an inclusive and sustainable fruit and vegetable sector and a conducive business climate that facilitates the development of the fruit and vegetable sector.<\/p>\n<p>The project\u2019s structure combines an overall private sector-led sector development approach, through the establishment of a Business Platform, as well as strong business-led initiatives through Innovation Funds, Agronomic Services Fund and commercial loans. The West Africa Horti-Fresh is being implemented by a consortium of Wageningen UR (CDI www.wur.eu\/cdi), SNV (www.snv.org), Advance Consulting, SENSE and Resilience.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The programme is currently seeking applicants for a full-time position for<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Financial Specialist<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The position is based in Accra, Ghana<\/p>\n<p><strong>Position Summary<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Financial Specialist is a development finance advisor with a good understanding of agricultural\/horticultural value chains. He\/she must be able to facilitate production-push and market-pull dynamics of agribusinesses. He\/she is a team player with strong networking, communication and analytical skills, who is able to broker sustainable relationships between financial institutions and agri-businesses.<\/li>\n<li>Under the supervision of the HortiFresh Program Manager, the key responsibilities of the Financial Specialist include:<\/li>\n<li>Development of new financial loan products specifically focused at Ghana\u2019s horticulture sector, targeting both smallholder farmers and small- and medium enterprises.<\/li>\n<li>Development of business plans for agribusiness companies.<\/li>\n<li>Development of financial models for agribusiness companies.<\/li>\n<li>Contribute towards drafting of sector reports.<\/li>\n<li>Brokering deals between banks and agribusiness companies.<\/li>\n<li>Support companies in complying with loan conditions, e.g. in terms of project implementation and reporting.<\/li>\n<li>Develop a strong network with financial institutions in Ghana and abroad (both commercial and development finance).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Required Skills or Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Applicant must have relevant knowledge in Finance and Business Management, and understand the dynamics of agribusiness operations. He\/she must have strong communication and networking skills.<\/li>\n<li>Minimum six years\u2019 experience working in the financial sector or consultancy;<\/li>\n<li>Minimum of five years\u2019 experience in business operations;<\/li>\n<li>Master\u2019s degree in one of the following: Finance,\u00a0 Development Finance, Economics, Business Administration, Agricultural Economics, and\/or related field;<\/li>\n<li>Excellent analytical and writing skills for developing business plans, financial models and contributing to sector reports (using computer applications such as MS Word and MS Excel).<\/li>\n<li>Proven track record in developing business plans and financial models.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>How to Apply<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Application Guidelines: Please read these carefully.
