Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n

Job Title: Researcher<\/strong><\/p>\n

Background<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Ghana Integrity Initiative (GII) is seeking to engage a Qualified Researcher to undertake a corruption risk assessment in the awarding of mining sector permits, licences and contracts at the national level in Ghana. The Researcher will conduct the risk assessment using a tool developed by Transparency International (TI) as part of a new multi-stakeholder \u2018Mining for Sustainable Development\u2019 Programme aimed at strengthening transparency and accountability in the mining sector across the globe.<\/p>\n

Description of Tasks<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Researcher will be expected to produce a risk assessment report within agreed timelines by specifically carrying out the following tasks in collaboration with GII and External Experts:<\/p>\n

\u2022 Implement the risk assessment methodology developed by TI
\n\u2022 Conduct a thorough desk review of existing information
\n\u2022 Conduct a mapping of the award and licencing process and the actors involved in Ghana
\n\u2022 Adapt a set of pre-identified risks to the national context
\n\u2022 Conduct interviews and focus group discussions with key individuals and organisations
\n\u2022 Rate corruption risks based on an assessment of their likelihood and potential impact
\n\u2022 Prioritise corruption risks and develop recommendations as a basis for advocacy
\n\u2022 Produce a final risk assessment report incorporating feedback from GII and other stakeholders
\n\u2022 Keep GII updated on progress and any challenges encountered on a regular basis throughout the project
\n\u2022 Contribute to the launch of the risk assessment report<\/p>\n

Qualification Required & Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n

Selection Criteria<\/p>\n

\u2022 Relevant experience in the mining sector either professionally or in a research or academic capacity
\n\u2022 Qualifications and experience in social sciences, international development or other relevant field
\n\u2022 Experience in conducting qualitative and\/or participatory research projects and engaging effectively with relevant stakeholders.
\n\u2022 Demonstrated ability to prepare reports that translate research results into information for action
\n\u2022 Demonstrated commitment to transparency and anti-corruption<\/p>\n
