We strive to be the best technical services company to work with, work for and invest in.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Senior West Africa Technical Energy Lead<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Wood Environment &amp; Infrastructure Solutions, Inc. (Wood) is seeking a Senior West Africa Technical Lead in the energy sector to guide and support the West Africa Energy Program (WAEP) under the Power Africa Expansion Program. WAEP will target advancing the energy sector, specifically as related to facilitating the financial closure of power transactions and strengthening the enabling environment for private sector investment in West Africa\u2019s power sector, while addressing key constraints to such investment and strengthening the human and institutional capacity of key national power sector entities, including utilities, on \u2013 grid connections, and regional power trade. Service geographies will target Anglo and Franco \u2013 phone West Africa, including Benin, Burkina Faso, Cameroon, Cape Verde, Central African Republic, Chad, Congo, C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire, the Democratic Republic of the Congo (\u201cDRC\u201d), Equatorial Guinea, Gabon, the Gambia, Ghana, Guinea, Guinea \u2013 Bissau, Liberia, Mali, Mauritania, Niger, Sao Tome &amp; Principe, Senegal, Sierra Leone, and Togo. Projects will be performed in close coordination with US funding agencies and local stakeholder counterparts.<\/p>\n<p>This full \u2013 time position will be based in Accra, Ghana, and will require frequent travel to in \u2013 country project sites. Wood\u2019s Senior West Africa Technical Lead will provide technical leadership, project management, and strategy and project formulation support for all desired outcomes of the Regional program; the successful candidate will report directly to the project COP.<\/p>\n<p>Technical areas of expertise sought include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Electric Utility Reform and Restructuring<\/li>\n<li>Power Systems Planning &amp; Monitoring<\/li>\n<li>Private Sector Participation &amp; Electricity Access<\/li>\n<li>Legal &amp; Regulatory<\/li>\n<li>Renewable Energy Technologies<\/li>\n<li>Tariffs &amp; Power Economics<\/li>\n<li>Power and Gas Systems Engineering<\/li>\n<li>Generation, Transmission and Distribution Systems and Transactions<\/li>\n<li>Demand \u2013 side Management and Energy Efficiency<\/li>\n<li>Environmental, Resettlement, Social &amp; Gender Considerations<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Contract length: Four (4) years with possible option years<\/p>\n<p>Position Responsibilities:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide oversight and ensure effective performance of the Regional components of the project<\/li>\n<li>Serve as Wood\u2019s senior staff member and liaison with both the client and the project team<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate performance and implementation across all desired outcomes of the Regional program<\/li>\n<li>Ensure the high quality of all deliverables produced<\/li>\n<li>Report to Wood\u2019s COP on project progress, needs and issues<\/li>\n<li>Support Wood\u2019s Home Office staff in development of monthly project invoices<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Skills \/ Qualifications<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A minimum of 20 years of working experience in implementing energy projects, especially in electricity distribution, is desired<\/li>\n<li>Preferably a bachelor\u2019s degree in finance or engineering, with a master\u2019s degree in engineering management, finance \/ economics or similar fields highly desirable<\/li>\n<li>Extensive in \u2013 country technical work experience highly preferred<\/li>\n<li>Extensive knowledge of international best practices in power system planning, economics, business models, institutional assessment, contract procedures, project follow \u2013 up and risk management<\/li>\n<li>Experience working and living in developing and \/ or post \u2013 conflict countries, with a preference for experience in the aforementioned countries<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work in a team environment with multiple reporting priorities<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Wood is a global leader in the delivery of project, engineering and technical services to energy and industrial markets.
