Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n Job Title:\u00a0Geotechnical\/Tailings Engineer<\/strong><\/p>\n Responsibilities \/ Duties:<\/strong><\/p>\n Provide services on tailings projects in the mining industry including:<\/p>\n \u2022 Design and inspection of tailings and water storage facilities<\/p>\n \u2022 The means of construction of tailings deposits.<\/p>\n \u2022 The operation and management of deposits.<\/p>\n \u2022 The properties of tailings.<\/p>\n \u2022 The behavior of tailings.<\/p>\n Manage, analyze and prepare reports for geotechnical projects which may include the following:<\/p>\n \u2022 Foundations for medium to large industrial developments and multi-story developments with basements.<\/p>\n \u2022 Earthworks, ground improvement and development<\/p>\n \u2022 Problematic soils<\/p>\n Provide technical advice and consultancy on complex tailings issues to clients (external & internal)<\/p>\n Develop client relationship and build business<\/p>\n Use advanced techniques, modifications and extension of theories, practices to synthesise and analyse data for decision making\/ recommendations<\/p>\n Build reputation as Technical Consultant \/ Specialist<\/p>\n Keep abreast of advancing technologies, methods and research & development<\/p>\n Closure & deposits stability and seepage analysis<\/p>\n Provide safety leadership in Health & Safety (OH&S incident reporting)<\/p>\n Participate in training activities, mentoring and transferring knowledge to junior geotechnical engineers.<\/p>\n Plan, develop schedules, coordinate and direct manpower on important engineering projects to meet completion deadlines.<\/p>\n Supervise, coordinate and review\/evaluate activities carried out by junior engineers.<\/p>\n Prepare proposals and reports for clients<\/p>\n Other duties as required<\/p>\n Project Management & Technical Expertise<\/p>\n Continued development of key skills in Project Management<\/p>\n Participation in professional development Technical Excellence<\/p>\n Identify and implement opportunities to apply Golder engineering expertise<\/p>\n Implement Projects that contain elements of the core Golder engineering expertise<\/p>\n Health and Safety best practice<\/p>\n Health and safety performance indicators in line with Golder target<\/p>\n Qualification:<\/p>\n Relevant Degree in the Geotechnical \/ Civil Engineering<\/p>\n Professional Register at GHIE (Min 4 years)<\/p>\n Experience:<\/p>\n 5 Years plus experience post-graduation<\/p>\n Legislation related to Engineering \/ Geotechnical environment<\/p>\n Financial Knowledge<\/p>\n Experience at a consulting firm<\/p>\n Project Management Skills<\/p>\n MS Word, MS Excel (Advanced), MS PowerPoint, MS Outlook , MS Projects<\/p>\n Competencies:<\/p>\n The employee has an increased level of specialist skills in technical discipline area, strong project management skills, or a mix of both.<\/p>\n Displays independence in completing work tasks.<\/p>\n Makes decisions of moderate complexity with less frequent input and review from senior staff.<\/p>\n Major focus is leadership of technical excellence or project management for larger and more complex projects with less supervision required.<\/p>\n Provides technical direction to junior and intermediate staff.<\/p>\n Is responsible for completion of reports \/ documents and proposals with senior review.<\/p>\n Understands Golder business systems and uses \/ follows these systems to ensure quality.<\/p>\n Is recognised as a role model \/ mentor for junior staff.<\/p>\n This is the first level
