CHF is a politically neutral, non-profit 501(c)(3) organization, that prides itself on an approach which is accountable, efficient and effective.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>SLUM COMMUNITIES ACHIEVING LIVABLE ENVIRONMENTS THROUGH URBAN PARTNERS (SCALE UP) PROJECT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>TERMS OF REFERENCE<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span>ASSESSING THE IMPACT OF FOOD SAFETY AND NUTRITION TRAINING ON URBAN FOOD SECURITY IN AYIDIKI, ACCRA<\/p>\n<p><strong>1.\u00a0INTRODUCTION<\/strong><br \/>\nCHF International has been awarded a three-year grant to implement the Slum Communities Achieving Livable Environments with Urban Partners (SCALE-UP) program. The program will provide targeted capacity building to local intermediaries (NGOs and others) to implement slum upgrading interventions in collaboration with community-based organization(CBOs) and municipal authorities in two cities(Accra and Sekondi-Takoradi).<\/p>\n<p><strong>The SCALE-UP Program has four principal objectives:<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Strengthening the capacity of slum residents and local intermediaries to realize pro-poor projects;<\/li>\n<li>Regularizing local government engagement of the urban poor in inclusive planning and implementation of pro-poor urban initiatives;<\/li>\n<li>Increasing income and asset generation opportunities for slum residents; and<\/li>\n<li>Improving the living environment for slum residents.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>The program focuses on building the capacity of local NGOs to identify and implement projects in slum communities that result in increased income and assets and improved living environments for slum community residents and operates in the following urban informal settlements:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Accra: Jamestown, Ayidiki, Sabon Zongo, Avenor and Nima<\/li>\n<li>Sekondi-Takoradi: New Takoradi, Kojokrom, Kwesimintim and Ngyeresia<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>One of the key activities of the Scale up project is to promote improved hygiene\/safety, good nutrition and micro enterprise skills development for healthy living in the target project communities. In this regard, Youth and Women Foundation (YWF), a local NGO partner of the Scale up project implemented the \u2018ensuring food security: targeting food vendors in Ayidiki community\u2019 project, with the aim of improving the food safety and nutrition knowledge and practices of 100 food vendors; and by that, improving food security in Ayidiki, Accra.<\/p>\n<p>After completion of this project by YWF, CHF Ghana is seeking a Consultant to conduct a rapid assessment of the impact of the activities of YWF in this community.<\/p>\n<p><strong>2.\u00a0OBJECTIVES OF THE ASSESSMENT<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Consultant will be required to assess the impact of training conducted in food safety and food nutrition on the 100 food vendors in Ayidiki, Accra, on food security. Specifically, the assessment will seek to determine how food security and the living conditions of residents of Ayidiki have improved as a result of training for food vendors covering the following;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>food safety knowledge and practices<\/li>\n<li>nutrition knowledge and practices<\/li>\n<li>business development services support<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>3.\u00a0SCOPE OF THE ASSESSMENT<\/strong><br \/>\nThe\u00a0 scope\u00a0 of\u00a0 work\u00a0 of\u00a0 the assessment should\u00a0 include\u00a0 but\u00a0 not\u00a0 be\u00a0 limited\u00a0 to\u00a0 all\u00a0 the\u00a0 following\u00a0 tasks\u00a0 detailed\u00a0 below;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>review the intended goal and objectives of the project, including the activities designed to achieve the goals and objectives<\/li>\n<li>onsite inspections and individual interviews on a statistically significant sample of the 100 food vendors trained<\/li>\n<li>collecting data to determine the impact<\/li>\n<li>powerpoint presentation\u00a0 and report on the assessment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>4.\u00a0GEOGRAPHICAL SCOPE<\/strong><br \/>\nThe geographical scope of the proposed assessment will be limited to Ayidiki, in Accra<\/p>\n<p><strong>5.\u00a0EXPECTED\u00a0 OUTPUTS\/DELIVERABLES<\/strong><br \/>\nThe assessment shall produce the following;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>a powerepoint at the end of the field study to CHF International project team, presenting major findings and recommendations<\/li>\n<li>a\u00a0 draft\u00a0 report\u00a0 which\u00a0 covers\u00a0 all\u00a0 the\u00a0 field\u00a0 investigations, data\u00a0 analysis\u00a0 and\u00a0 recommendations\u00a0 on\u00a0 the\u00a0\u00a0 work\u00a0 done, that\u00a0 offers;<\/li>\n<li>a\u00a0 thorough understanding of the impact of the trainings (food safety and nutrition) of the 100 food vendors on food security<\/li>\n<li>impact of the training in improving food security in Ayidiki, as a community<\/li>\n<li>a final report that addresses all comments on the draft report provided by CHF International<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>6.\u00a0RESPONSE<br \/>\n<\/strong>Consultants or firms interested in the assessment should please submit a proposal to include the following;<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>overview of consultant\u2019s capabilities\/experience<\/li>\n<li>contact details to include physical location, telephone number and email address(es)<\/li>\n<li>description of services\/work to be performed<\/li>\n<li>proposed\u00a0 methodology<\/li>\n<li>proposed\u00a0 team<\/li>\n<li>estimated\u00a0 budget<\/li>\n<li>delivery schedule<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>7.\u00a0WORKING ARRANGEMENTS, COORDINATION AND REPORTING<\/strong><br \/>\nCHF will work closely with the Consultant. Therefore upon signing of the contract, the Consultant will discuss and agree on a work plan with CHF International.
