We offer demand-driven, tailor-made and effective services for sustainable development in more than\u00a0130 countries worldwide.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Accounts Officer<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><b>Job Location<\/b>: Accra, Greater Accra<\/p>\n<p><b>Job Description<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ensuring that financial administration functions well in accordance with GIZ standard procedures<\/li>\n<li>Effectively coordinating with the staff of the finance team or the Commercial Affairs Department at GIZ Head Office<\/li>\n<li>Preparing cheques, bank transfers and deposits at the bank<\/li>\n<li>Deputizing for cash payments, cash book and bank book<\/li>\n<li>Performing tasks in compliance with GIZ\u2019s Orientation and Rules (O+R)<\/li>\n<li>Financial planning, monitoring and accounting for GIZ-assisted projects<\/li>\n<li>Giving advice to the projects, business partner and counterpart<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Tasks<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Financial services<\/li>\n<li>Monitors income, expenditure and the monthly bank reconciliation<\/li>\n<li>Manages the processing of letters of credit<\/li>\n<li>Monitors real accounts (payables, receivables) and reports regularly to the officer responsible for the contract and cooperation and the senior accounts officer<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Travel claim calculation<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Calculates national and international travel claims<\/li>\n<li>Calculates travel advances<\/li>\n<li>Processes settlement of applications for the reimbursement of travel expenses<\/li>\n<li>Monitors the international duty trip lists and forwards them to GIZ Head Office<\/li>\n<li>Follows up on outstanding travel advance<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Internal Control<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Checks the vouchers and receipts submitted by the projects\/programmes for completeness and allocation to cost units and categories, and corrects these where necessary<\/li>\n<li>Advises on financial aspects of the projects<\/li>\n<li>Carries out internal controls,- both checklist A and monthly error sheets as yearly internal controls of<\/li>\n<li>projects- in accordance with GIZs internal controlling manual<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>General services for GIZ-assisted projects\/programmes<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Carries out accounting tasks using WINPACCS accounting software and prepares monthly end-of-period<\/li>\n<li>accounts and bank reconciliation vouchers<\/li>\n<li>Submits the end-of-month accounts from the project accounting, cash books and account balance<\/li>\n<li>vouchers (through or from WINPACCS) to the officer responsible for the contract and cooperation and forwards them to GIZ Head OfficeAssists with the transfer of funds to projectsOther duties \/ additional tasks<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Other duties\/Additional task<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Reports all problems with financial administration and compliance without delay<\/li>\n<li>Is responsible for filing in accordance with GIZ rules<\/li>\n<li>Performs other duties and tasks at the request of management<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Qualifications and Requirements<\/b><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Minimum of Bsc\/BA in accounting and auditing or similar area<\/li>\n<li>At least 3 years professional experience in a comparable position<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Other knowledge, additional competences<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>In-depth knowledge of accounting software<\/li>\n<li>Good working knowledge of ICT technologies (related software, phone, fax, email, the internet) and computer applications.
