The Polytechnic has been making strides in the quest to fulfil its mandate of training students to meet the critical manpower needs of the country. The Polytechnic has a student population of about 8,000and a staff population of about 500. IN October, 1963, the institution was turned into a Polytechnic under the control of the Ghana Education Service.\u00a0 The main programmes which were taught from that time included technician courses in Engineering, Catering, Fashion Design, Royal Society of Arts (R.S.A.) and Diploma in Business Studies (D. B.
