In line with the country-specific Security Risk Management (SRM) , the United Nations system in Ghana created Radio Rooms in Accra and Tamale with the primary responsibility of ensuring the safety and security of all UN staff, dependents and property. The Radio Rooms are designed to operate on 24\u00d77 basis which requires the services of Radio Operator\/Data Assistant.<\/p>\n

The position is fully funded by UN agencies in Ghana through the Cost Shared Security Budget.<\/p>\n

Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n

Job Title: Data Entry Clerk<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Radio Operator\/Data Assistant will provide radio communication\/security support to staff and dependents in all UN Agencies. In addition, Radio Operator\/Data Assistant will develop analysis and reporting capabilities. He\/she will also monitor performance and quality control plans to identify improvements.<\/p>\n

Duties And Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n

Under the immediate supervision of the Security Advisor (SA), the<\/p>\n

Radio Operator\/Data Assistant shall be responsible for the following duties:<\/p>\n

Collection of data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases\/data systems for the department.<\/p>\n

Interpret, analyze and update data using statistical techniques and provide ongoing reports for the department.<\/p>\n

Develop and implement databases, data collection systems, data analytics and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.<\/p>\n

Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets for the Security Advisor or Assignees.<\/p>\n

Work with Security Advisor to prioritize security and information needs.<\/p>\n

Locate and define new process improvement opportunities for the department<\/p>\n

Maintain electronic and manual archives for UNDSS<\/p>\n

Provide materials\/data\/information for the SMT, OMT and SFP.<\/p>\n

Provide data for UNDSS mandatory returns<\/p>\n

Serve as Backup for UNDSS Administrative Assistant<\/p>\n

Serving in shift-system at a 24\/7 radio room which maintains a radio and telephone communication regime with all UN staff in the Area of Operation;<\/p>\n

When required, he\/she will assist police during investigations in all security related incidents involving UN staff.<\/p>\n

Ensure that all communication equipment (i.e. VHF and HF radios, fax mobile and land-line phones) are in perfect working conditions before the start of duty;<\/p>\n

Receive, process, record and pass all security related information to the appropriate quarters through the normal communication channels;<\/p>\n

Inform the Supervisors immediately of any incident\/accident;<\/p>\n

Maintain communication link with the security agencies (police and military) with a view to providing the necessary assistance to UN staff members and receiving updated information on security matters;<\/p>\n

Register and forward all e-mail messages and messages deposited during working and off-duty hours;<\/p>\n

Assist with preparation of UN IDS and Access badges when on day shift.<\/p>\n

Accurately identify exact location\/grid references of all incident\/accidents and pass information to the Supervisors and the police;<\/p>\n

Maintain both electronic and manual register;<\/p>\n

Provide relevant assistance to visiting staff members requiring assistance through radio or telephone channels;<\/p>\n

Brief the incoming duty radio operator on all events, especially pending cases for which action is to be taken;<\/p>\n

Perform radio checks, as directed by the SA \/ Local Security Assistant (LSA) and Radio Room Supervisor;<\/p>\n

Keep the SA\/LSA and Radio Room Supervisor informed of any information or incident that could have a bearing on the security of staff and property;<\/p>\n

Perform any other tasks as assigned by the SA\/LSA\/ Radio Room Supervisor<\/p>\n

Competencies<\/strong><\/p>\n

Professionalism: Very good skills in use of communications equipment;<\/p>\n

Proven working experience as a data analyst or business data analyst<\/p>\n

Knowledge of statistics and experience using statistical packages for analyzing datasets (Excel etc)<\/p>\n

Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy<\/p>\n

Professionalism:<\/strong>\u00a0Knowledge of statistical programmes to analyze and evaluate complex data. Ability to formulate new strategies and technical approaches with respect to data development. Required Skills And Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n

Education<\/strong><\/p>\n

High school diploma or equivalent in relevant field. Formal training in radio communication and Data Analysis<\/p>\n

Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n

A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in the collection, compilation and analysis of data from multiple sources including administrative sources to produce official documents and in the dissemination of information\/data is required.<\/p>\n

Knowledge of radio communication procedures<\/p>\n

Language Requirements<\/strong><\/p>\n

Fluency in the English and preferable fluency in Ga and Twi languages<\/p>\n
