The University was converted from a\u00a0Polytechnic to a Technical University in September 2016 by an Act of Parliament establishing\u00a0Technical Universities in Ghana. The University has been mandated by the Technical<br \/>\nUniversities Act, (Act 922), to provide higher education in engineering, science, and\u00a0technology-based disciplines, technical and vocational education and training, applied arts and\u00a0related disciplines. The University has three (3) campuses: Effia-Kuma (Takoradi \u2013 Main\u00a0Campus), Butumagyebu (Sekondi) and Akatakyi (Agona-Nkwanta).<\/p>\n<p><strong>Vision Statement:\u00a0<\/strong>To be the most preferred engineering and applied sciences University\u00a0devoted to excellence in teaching and applied industrial research to produce competent world-\u00a0class human resource for the strategic development of industry in order to achieve an enhanced\u00a0national and global development.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Mission Statement:\u00a0<\/strong>Takoradi Technical University is dedicated to advanced instructional\u00a0delivery in engineering and applied sciences and also creative arts, business and technology-based\u00a0research disciplines in strong collaboration with industry through competency-based teaching\u00a0approaches.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0Vice Chancellor\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Governing Council of Takoradi Technical University announces for the information of the Academic Community and the General Public the executive search for qualified and enterprising persons for the underlisted position.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The Position<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Vice-Chancellor is the Executive Head of the University and is responsible, under the\u00a0Council of the University for both the Academic and Administrative functions of the\u00a0University. He is charged with the promotion of quality higher education and the provision of\u00a0academic and administrative leadership. He is also responsible for initiating new directions in the\u00a0academic development of the University and for implementing the University\u2019s Strategic\u00a0Plan. The Vice-Chancellor is the Chief Disciplinary Officer of the University and exercises\u00a0general disciplinary functions over both members of staff and students subject to the Statutes\u00a0and Regulations of the University. The Vice-Chancellor, subject to the approval of the<br \/>\nGoverning Council, shall have the power to delegate any of the functions assigned by the\u00a0Statutes to Senior Members of the University as deemed appropriate.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Terms of Appointment<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Vice-Chancellor shall hold office for an initial term of four (4) years. The\u00a0appointment may be renewed, upon application for a further term of four (4) years or part\u00a0thereof only if that is not beyond the statutory retirement age of sixty (60) years.<\/li>\n<li>The terms and conditions of the appointment shall be determined by the Governing\u00a0Council of the University.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Required Skills or Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Person<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Must be a distinguished and internationally acclaimed scholar, with a minimum\u00a0academic qualification of PhD or its equivalent in Engineering, Applied Arts, Science\u00a0and Technology; and must be of professorial status in a university or of a comparable\u00a0grade in a similar institution, organisation or industry.<\/li>\n<li>Must have good character and high degree of personal integrity and must be a\u00a0distinguished scholar with the relevant industrial and professional experience.<\/li>\n<li>Must possess fundraising skills.<\/li>\n<li>Must be visionary, business-oriented and able to establish rapport between industry\u00a0and the university for a common purpose.<\/li>\n<li>Must have rich administrative experience with a proven capacity to motivate, manage\u00a0and direct staff.<\/li>\n<li>Must exhibit a high sense of industry, leadership qualities, and organisational skills.<\/li>\n<li>Must possess excellent communication and inter-personal skills and capacity to\u00a0manage and control crisis situations.<\/li>\n<li>Must have a good understanding of the challenges facing Takoradi Technical\u00a0University in particular and tertiary education in Ghana in general.<\/li>\n<li>Must be sober with maturity and drive for sound and impartial judgment.<\/li>\n<li>Must be able to complete at least one term of four (4) years before attaining the\u00a0compulsory retirement age of sixty (60) years.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"how-to-apply\"><strong>How to Apply<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Interested candidates should send seven (7) copies of their application package\u00a0including the following:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Curriculum Vitae with documentation on personal history, academic credentials, work experience and addresses of three (3) referees who can attest to the qualities of the applicant.<\/li>\n<li>A short statement of not more than four pages Times New Roman size 12 and 1.5\u00a0line spacing) outlining their vision for Takoradi Technical University and strategies for\u00a0implementation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Applications must be hand-delivered in a sealed envelope to the Registry of the University\u00a0and signed for or submitted via courier services to the address below (as applicable) not later than\u00a0TUESDAY.
