It\u2019s the combination of productivity and community development that makes Cocoa Life so unique. Then protection of natural resources in our supply chain is also critical, starting with forests and promotion of agroforestry practices when adapted.<\/p>\n<p>Increasing yield on cocoa farms will happen through introduction of individual coaching of framers and development of farm development plans, promoting and facilitating access to inputs such as improved planting material and fertilizers, facilitating access to financial services, looking into new models such as aggregated farms. Under our community development work, we work at providing communities with tools such as Community Action Plans, Village Saving and Loans Association but also need to help these households to diversify their sources of income.<\/p>\n<p>The Cocoa Life program was launched end of 2012. Six years later, a lot has been achieved and a lot still needs to be done. For the next phase, we have decided to strenghthen our global team by opening a position for a Global Technical Manager. The role holder will need to work on both productivity and community development by ensuring the program is being implemented across the countries and partners in a consistent and structural quality. He\/She will also drive our innovation agenda by testing new approaches before these could be implemented at scale. Considering the very ambitious abjectives we have, such innovation will be critical to have impact at scale. These can go from introducing cookstoves into communities to promoting mechanization on farm. Introduction of such innovation will only be possible if they come with a strong business case for farmers and their communities. These business case need to result in an increase in the households\u2019 income. New approaches should also allow us to be more efficient in the way we engage with communities for their own development.<\/p>\n<p>The role will be divided into 3 worsktreams:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Impact at scale and innovation<\/li>\n<li>Work with teams in origins for smooth and effective implementation<\/li>\n<li>Learning Center<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>This role will report into the Associate Director Cocoa Life, Operations and will have to work closely with our teams and implementing partners in origins (mainly C\u00f4te d\u2019Ivoire, Ghana and Indonesia) but also with colleagues from procurement and R&amp;D.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Some of the key accountabilities for this role will include (but are not limited to)<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>WORSTREAM 1: Impact at scale and Innovation<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Drive our Cocoa Life community strategy to ensure Community Development Committees, Community Action Plans, Village Saving and Loans Association are implemented in communities and leveraged for phase out<\/li>\n<li>Drive our Cocoa Life productivity strategy to improve our farmers outreach and farms rehabilitation (improvement of our ongoing extension strategy \u2013 that relies on access to improved planting material and other inputs -, proposing an approach to farm development plan, structure farmers profiling and outreach, agroforestry, access to finance etc)<\/li>\n<li>Help design and drive our Cocoa Life innovation approach to lead to improved adoption of interventions on farms and in communities<\/li>\n<li>Develop appropriate models and business case for households\u2019 income diversification<\/li>\n<li>Support the development of strategic partnerships<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>WORKSTREAM 2: work with teams in origins for smooth and effective implementation<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Confirm consistent quality of implementation across countries and partners<\/li>\n<li>Benchmark effectiveness across partners and origins<\/li>\n<li>Ensure the Cocoa Life principles and timing are respected<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>WORKSTREAM 3: learning center<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Develop a mechanism to capture learnings from program in due time<\/li>\n<li>Facilitate effective best practice and learnings sharing across countries<\/li>\n<li>Support research around rural development, adoption of practices on farm and climate change\/deforestation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Do you have what it takes?<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Master degree<\/li>\n<li>Education in agronomy, rural economy and environment are preferred<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of agricultural value chain in West Africa and ideally of cocoa<\/li>\n<li>5 years of work experience in a developing country environment on sustainable agriculture of community development (ideally in West Africa)<\/li>\n<li>Experience in developing, influencing and maintaining network of relationship across stakeholder groups (internal and external)<\/li>\n<li>Understanding of full spectrum of production\/supply, economic, social, environmental and political issues impacting cocoa or similar value chain<\/li>\n<li>Experience in working in rural areas<\/li>\n<li>Proven ability to engage effectively and influence stakeholders from across government, trading and development<\/li>\n<li>English and French language are required<\/li>\n<li>Skills\/Leadership Competencies:<\/li>\n<li>Dealing with ambiguity<\/li>\n<li>Problem solving<\/li>\n<li>Operating in multi cultural environment and respectful of cultural differences<\/li>\n<li>Entrepreneur and autonomous<\/li>\n<li>Project management<\/li>\n<li>Strong communicator<\/li>\n<li>Proven ability to engage effectively and influence stakeholders from across government, trading and development<\/li>\n<li>Accountability and drive for results<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Mondel\u0113z International, Inc. empowers people to snack right in over 160 countries around the world.
