Working in building powerful partnerships for children for over 80 years and present in 70 countries, Plan International strives for a just world, tackling the root causes of the challenges facing girls and all vulnerable children while working together with children, young people, our supporters and partners.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: Project Lead<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Dimensions of Role:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>The Project Lead will be responsible and ultimately accountable for project\u2019s strategic direction, quality programming and results achievement, financial management and compliance, team leadership, stakeholder and partner relations, and donor deliverables. Feminist principles of collaboration, participation, transparency and respect for the agency of women\u2019s organizations will be integrated in all aspects of this role. The post-holder will be based in Accra but travel to project locations where women\u2019s rights organizations operate for approximately 30% of their time.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Typical Responsibilities \u2013 Key End Results of Position:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>\u201cWhat\u201d is done and \u201cwhy\u201d, but not \u201chow\u201d; include indicators for success<\/p>\n<p><strong>Please state why each activity is done and the indicators for success<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Project Leadership and Management:<\/strong>\u00a0Lead high quality, feminist and results-oriented program planning, implementation and reporting in compliance with donor and government agreements. A strong understanding of project cycle management, results-based management, feminist principles, and grant disbursement processes is essential.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Expected Outcomes:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Project cycle management processes and tools (including detailed implementation plans) effectively implemented to achieve project results and comply with donor requirements, government, and partnership agreements.<\/li>\n<li>Grant management, disbursement and reporting processes developed in collaboration with women\u2019s organizations and responsive to their needs.<\/li>\n<li>Compliance tools and frameworks are designed to be responsive to the capacities of women\u2019s organizations and meet donor requirements for audit.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure program strategies in gender equality and women\u2019s empowerment are responsive to the context, implemented consistently across all project activities, and adhere to best practices in the sector.<\/li>\n<li>Expenditure is monitored monthly to ensure spending is on track and forecasts are duly updated based on project needs and in compliance with donor regulations.<\/li>\n<li>Quality programmatic and financial reports are prepared on time and in line with Plan International and donor standards.<\/li>\n<li>Feminist monitoring and evaluation system, tools and processes are developed for measuring the results of the project, and project data is collected, and validated by and shared with relevant stakeholders.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that local laws and operational policies and protocols, including for security, are observed and respected.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Synergy, Communication and Coordination: Foster<\/strong>\u00a0and maintain productive and professional relationships with and between all project stakeholders, particularly with local women\u2019s organizations.<\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>Expected Outcomes:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide strategic and feminist leadership within the project\u2019s governance structures and in support of women\u2019s organizations.<\/li>\n<li>Foster strong coordination and collaboration with women\u2019s organizations through open and transparent communication, participation and joint decision-making, and respect for their agency and technical expertise.<\/li>\n<li>Cultivate a positive relationship with the donor agency (Global Affairs Canada) in Ghana and relevant government departments.<\/li>\n<li>Best practices and lessons learned are documented, shared, and integrated into programming.<\/li>\n<li>Work with program staff and technical advisors to identify the technical support needs of the project and ensure this support is provided.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Team Leadership:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Lead and manage a team of professionals to ensure high levels of motivation, commitment, capacity and teamwork.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Expected Outcomes:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Roles, responsibilities and expectations are clearly communicated and understood by the full project team and tasks are appropriately delegated.<\/li>\n<li>Internal planning meetings are organized regularly to provide direction and guidance.<\/li>\n<li>Team members are mentored and coached to achieve their full potential and results of the project.<\/li>\n<li>Staff performance reviews are conducted in line with Plan International Ghana\u2019s performance management system.<\/li>\n<li>Ensure that Plan International\u2019s global policies for Child Protection and Gender Equality and Inclusion are fully embedded in accordance with the principles and requirements of the policy including relevant implementation standards and guidelines as applicable to their area of responsibility. This includes, but is not limited to, ensuring staff and associates are aware of and understand their responsibilities under these policies and Plan International\u2019s Code of Conduct, their relevance to their area of work, and that concerns are reported and managed in accordance with the appropriate procedures.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Communications and Working Relationships:<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Working contacts inside and outside the organization; include the purpose and level (high, medium, low) of the contact<\/p>\n<p>The Project Lead will be responsible for ensuring the productive and functional relationships with the project team, women\u2019s organizations, government departments, Global Affairs Canada, and the wider Plan International Ghana and Plan International Canada teams.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Medium contact with Plan International partner organizations ( WROs) \u00a0to ensure compliance;<\/li>\n<li>Maintains medium contact with other staff from the Program Unit and country offices to offer support for understanding and implementation of the Women\u2019s Voices and Leadership related activities<strong>Knowledge, Skills, Behaviors, and Experience Required to Achieve Role\u2019s Objectives:\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\nGained through education, training, &amp; experience<br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Qualification and Experience<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Advanced degree in relevant field such as International Development, Project Management, Gender Studies, or other related social science fields.<\/li>\n<li>A minimum of 7 years of relevant professional experience in leading complex development projects that delivered high quality programming and gender transformative results.<\/li>\n<li>Progressive experience working for INGOs in increasingly senior level management positions.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated track record developing successful funding proposals for major institutional donors.<\/li>\n<li>Capacity building experience in project design, implementation, reporting, and evaluation.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Demonstrated behaviours needed by the postholder to successfully perform the role:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Passion for feminist principles, mission driven work and personal values aligned with Plan International.<\/li>\n<li>Commitment to working transparently and with integrity.<\/li>\n<li>Inclusive and empowering approach to leadership and project management.<\/li>\n<li>Strong negotiation and influencing skills, natural ability to manage diverse opinions and agendas, finding win-win solutions in a respectful manner.<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated creativity and willingness to innovate.<\/li>\n<li>Flexible and adaptable work style to respond to an evolving context.<\/li>\n<li>Proven leadership, inter-personal and cross-cultural skills, and ability to build and motivate teams.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work under pressure, prioritize and meet deadlines.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Promotes high performance by all staff<\/li>\n<li>Communicates clearly and effectively<br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Skills Specific to the post needed to put knowledge into practice.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Demonstrable experience managing multimillion-dollar institutional grants through donors such as Global Affairs Canada, USAID, DFID and European Union.<\/li>\n<li>Familiarity with Global Affairs Canada guidelines and requirements.<\/li>\n<li>Proven experience in directly managing a diverse team including technical and finance staff ensuring high levels of motivation, commitment, capacity and teamwork.<\/li>\n<li>Strong understanding of feminist principles, gender equality, and women\u2019s empowerment.<\/li>\n<li>Strong understanding of feminist monitoring and evaluation, and results-based management tools and approaches.<\/li>\n<li>Strong understanding and proven application of project cycle management.<\/li>\n<li>Strong experience in partnership management and aptitude for cultivating strong relationships with multiple stakeholders including women\u2019s organizations, government, and donors.<\/li>\n<li>Experience leading cross-functional and remote teams to deliver results.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to establish priorities in a time sensitive environment, track project performance, meet deadlines, and ensure high quality deliverables.<\/li>\n<li>Ability to fully function in English (verbal and written) in essential. All donor reports, deliverables and communication will be in English.<\/li>\n<li>Proficient computer skills and use of relevant software and other applications (e.g. word processing, spreadsheet, database, internet).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<ul>\n<li>Networking and partnership development<\/li>\n<li>Strong negotiation, facilitating and influencing skills<\/li>\n<li>Proficient in Microsoft applications usage and other relevant software and other applications<\/li>\n<li>Self-starter takes initiative and works with minimal direct supervision.<\/li>\n<li>Strong inter-personal and cross-cultural skills.<br \/>\nFlexible, able to shift directions quickly and occasionally work long hours to meet tight reporting deadlines.<br \/>\n<strong>\u00a0<\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Physical Environment and Demands:<\/strong><br \/>\nMay be \u201ctypical office environment\u201d; note if heavy lifting, climbing, excess travel, etc.<br \/>\n<strong>Travel requirements<\/strong><br \/>\nThis post holder will be stationed in the Country Office in Accra with regular travel (approximately 30% of time) to project locations where women\u2019s rights organizations operate.<strong>Level of Contact with Children:<\/strong><br \/>\nResponsibilities of this job require a low level of contact with children.
