The mine is located in a tropical climate in the Western Region of Ghana<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Purpose of the position:<br \/>\n<\/strong>The Metallurgy Department is seeking to employ an experienced and self motivated person to fill the above position. The incumbent will be responsible and accountable and achievement of Tarkwa Laboratory&#8217;s targets which entails the development and installation of a pro-active approach to all the Laboratory&#8217;s issues in order for the company to attain high analytical standards and to remain competitive to world standards.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Key Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Co-ordinating all the analytical activities of the Tarkwa Analytical Laboratory<\/li>\n<li>Utilizing specialist knowledge and experience in solving problems in the laboratory<\/li>\n<li>Providing technical services in maintaining high analytical standards for the mine<\/li>\n<li>Establish and maintain amicable and constructive team working relationships<\/li>\n<li>Carrying out formal and informal coaching and mentoring of assigned subordinates<\/li>\n<li>Overseeing the analytical processes to support the Tarkwa Mine to achieve its objectives and goals<\/li>\n<li>Ensuring in the writing up of departmental procedures and standards<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Required Skills or Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>A relevant recognized Bachelor of Science qualification in Chemistry, Bio-Chemistry or any Chemical related field with at least four years working experience as a chief chemist or similar position<\/li>\n<li>Computer literacy in MS\u00a0Word, Excel and power point<\/li>\n<li>Good Supervisory Skills as well as the ability to work on the job without supervision<\/li>\n<li>Good analytical ability and working knowledge of six sigma and SAP<\/li>\n<li>An understanding of good Environmental Health and Lab Safety as well as laboratory practices<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of relevant legislation and mine standards and codes of practice<\/li>\n<li>A valid light duty vehicle license and proficiency in driving a light vehicle<\/li>\n<li>Well developed oral and written communication skills<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrable understanding of environmental and chemical safety<\/li>\n<li>Medical fitness for the position and environment<\/li>\n<li>Previous experience in a Surface Mining Environment<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>How To Apply<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Telephone enquiries: Florence Horthersall, Tel: <\/strong>0244-334821 &#8211; 9 Extension 4229.<\/p>\n<p>Interested parties should submit their Curriculum Vitae to:<\/p>\n<div>\n<strong>Emmanuel Ben-Awuah<br \/>\nHR\u00a0Officer<br \/>\nTarkwa Gold Mine<br \/>\nP.
