Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n Job Title:\u00a0GIS Technician\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n Zipline is at the forefront of a revolution and we\u2019re looking for a GIS Engineer excited to lead mapping and route finding efforts to enable our fleet of lifesaving drones to fly to more places.<\/p>\n In your first month, you will:<\/p>\n Be responsible for photogrammetric processing of UAV imagery data to generate photogrammetry outputs, including a DSM, orthomosaic, and point clouds Within 3 months you will:<\/p>\n Bring on new delivery sites by using in-house tooling to develop flight routes to new sites By 6 months, you will:<\/p>\n Help train a growing team of GIS Analysts Strong candidates have many of these GIS skills:<\/p>\n Experience working with Digital Elevation Models, Orthophotography and Lidar Point Clouds Strong candidates will also have many of these skills:<\/p>\n Strong computer literacy: comfortable using command line tools, able to install software. \nTrain on how to perform quality control of photogrammetric outputs
\nConstruct flight routes that successfully navigate around any identified hazards
\nPerform quality control on geospatial datasets to ensure data meets accuracy requirements
\nPrepare and ingest UAV datasets into Zipline\u2019s flight planning system<\/p>\n
\nTrack production progress across multiple Zipline Distribution Centers
\nContinuously identify and implement ways to expand, improve, and streamline the tooling and systems used to bring on new delivery sites<\/p>\n
\nManage competing priorities and make tough decisions
\nTrack productivity and measure the output of the team against ambitious goals<\/p>\n
\nGood understanding of projections\/datum
\nExperience with UAV datasets
\nExperience with remote sensing: able to identify and extract features from raster imagery using a combination of manual and automated means
\nStrong working knowledge of GIS Tools such as ArcGIS, QGIS, Global Mapper, and GDAL<\/p>\n
\nExcellent data management skills: act as a data steward for a variety of spatial datasets that are used across multiple groups within the company.
\nReal-world prioritization: adept at ruthlessly prioritizing projects, able to prioritize multiple work streams and data analysis requests.
\nOperations & productivity: able to be prolific, efficient, and fast in order to meet demanding timelines and last-minute needs
\nStrong attention to detail and an ability to get stuff done, no matter what the hurdles are<\/p>\n
\nExperience processing UAV collected imagery into Digital Surface Models and Orthomosaics
\nComfortable using BASH terminals
\nFamiliarity with git
\nPython experience a plus<\/p>\n
