\nReport To:<\/strong>\u00a0Head of Finance and Administration
\nAssignment period:<\/strong>\u00a0Two years contract with a possibility of an extension<\/p>\n

Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n

The Gender and Communication Officer is responsible for the institutionalization of gender equality across GIZ Ghana and communicating country-related information both within and outside of GIZ.<\/p>\n

Tasks<\/strong><\/p>\n

Communication<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022 Support in developing and implementing the country\u2019s communication strategy
\n\u2022 Deal with all questions arising in this area directed towards corporate communication
\n\u2022 Advise projects in the country in their communication work and manage the exchange of information between projects, programs, and the GIZ office
\n\u2022 Assure the quality and compliance with the corporate design guidelines of all kind of publications from projects or programs
\n\u2022 Support in building the internal communications function at GIZ Ghana, helping to effectively communicate and reinforce strategy, cultural values, and pertinent updates through the organization<\/p>\n

Gender<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022 Support the management team of GIZ Ghana in identifying the main gender-related bottlenecks and needs and in defining priorities for addressing these bottle-necks and needs
\n\u2022 Advise AV and gender focal persons at project level on gender-related requirements in commission management such as gender markers in appraisal missions\/offers, integration of gender analysis results in project concepts\/indicators on establishing gender-sensitive result-based monitoring system and reporting on gender in progress reports
\n\u2022 Support GIZ Ghana make a more systematic and more concrete contribution to promoting the implementation of equal rights for women and men
\n\u2022 Support in the strategic orientation of the gender policy in Ghana and the respective internal and external communication
\n\u2022 Advise projects in the country in their gender and communication work and manage the exchange of information between projects, programs, and the GIZ office
\n\u2022 Motivate, develop capacities and raise awareness regarding gender equality among managers and colleagues
\n\u2022 Train gender and communication focal persons in the projects and programs
\n\u2022 Cooperating with GIZ\u2019s gender network, managing the exchange of information on Gender<\/p>\n

Qualification Required & Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n

\u2022 Master\u2019s Degree in Social Science, Communication, Gender Studies or related field
\n\u2022 Comprehensive knowledge of the concepts of gender mainstreaming
\n\u2022 A minimum of 5 years of practical experience in the implementation of gender mainstreaming approaches in programs and\/or at the institutional level
\n\u2022 Experience with the design and implementation of gender-sensitive result-based monitoring systems desirable
\n\u2022 Strong analytical, negotiation and advisory skills
\n\u2022 Ability to express oneself well both verbally and in writing, polished, target-group oriented style
\n\u2022 Editorial experience, experience in writing articles and press releases
\n\u2022 Experienced in the project and\/or event management
\n\u2022 Strong coordination skills in order to bring together stakeholders and balance their interests
\n\u2022 Understanding of strategic approached and experiences in developing and implementing communication strategies\/plans
\n\u2022 Ability to take initiative and work in a multi-cultural environment
\n\u2022 Ability to work independently but also in a team
\n\u2022 Very good working knowledge of ICT technologies (related software, phone, fax, email, the internet) and computer applications (e.g MS Office)
\n\u2022 Excellent knowledge of the English language
\n\u2022 Willingness to traveling within and outside the country
\n\u2022 Willingness to up-skill as required by the tasks to be performed \u2013 corresponding measures are agreed with management<\/p>\n

Salary: Competitive GIZ Salary grid (Band 4 Ghana), SSNIT, Health Insurance as well as 13th Month Salary and annual bonus<\/p>\n
