To find out more about additional suggested competencies, check out our\u00a0engineer framework.<\/p>\n<p>Experience<\/p>\n<p>A<strong>\u00a0minimum of 3-7 years of professional experience<\/strong>, during which you\u2019ve built technical expertise and professionalism.<\/p>\n<p>Required<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Intermediate-level<\/strong>\u00a0understanding of\u00a0<strong>at least one core backend language<\/strong>: Python, JavaScript\/Node, PHP, Ruby, Java<\/li>\n<li><strong>Working<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>knowledge<\/strong>\u00a0of\u00a0<strong>Object-Oriented Programming concepts<\/strong>\u00a0i.e Classes and objects, Inheritance, Encapsulation and Polymorphism.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Good understanding<\/strong>\u00a0of\u00a0<strong>fundamental database concepts<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>\u2013\u00a0<\/strong>relational (SQL) database, non-relational (NoSQL) database and ORMs\/ODMs<\/li>\n<li><strong>Working<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>knowledge<\/strong>\u00a0of\u00a0<strong>core data structures<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Experience working with<\/strong>\u00a0of software engineering<strong>\u00a0collaboration tools<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Experience\u00a0<\/strong>with<strong>\u00a0architecture and design principles,\u00a0<\/strong>building to consider maintainability, performance, security requirements, and impact.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Familiarity<\/strong>\u00a0with at least one<strong>\u00a0cloud hosting platform\u00a0<\/strong>\u2013(ex: AWS, GCP)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Preferred<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Comfort<\/strong>\u00a0working within agile methodologies and experienced in estimation and time management<\/li>\n<li><strong>Intermediate understanding\u00a0<\/strong>of\u00a0<strong>unit and integration testing,<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>testing frameworks\/libraries\u00a0<\/strong>\u2014 PyTest, Nose, Jasmine, Mocha, Jest<\/li>\n<li><strong>Strong\u00a0<\/strong>preference for test-driven-development (TDD) and understands its importance<\/li>\n<li><strong>Experience\u00a0<\/strong>having worked with at\u00a0<strong>least one Web Framework<\/strong>\u00a0for your language of choice<\/li>\n<li><strong>Comfort and familiarity\u00a0<\/strong>with\u00a0<strong>code editor and formatting tools<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Familiarity\u00a0<\/strong>with at least<strong>\u00a0one web server technology<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 (ex: Apache, Nginx)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Working knowledge\u00a0<\/strong>of at least\u00a0<strong>one CI\/CD tool<\/strong>\u00a0\u2014 Jenkins, Travis CI, Circle CI<\/li>\n<li><strong>Familiarity\u00a0<\/strong>with\u00a0<strong>containerization<\/strong>\u00a0and<strong>\u00a0orchestration techniques<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Strong\u00a0<\/strong>ability to problem-solve, debug, and understand pertinent performance metrics<\/li>\n<li><strong>Knowledge<\/strong>\u00a0of unit, integration, e2e and UI testing, with at least one relevant\u00a0<strong>testing framework<\/strong><\/li>\n<li><strong>Familiarity\u00a0<\/strong>with\u00a0<strong>containerization infrastructure\u00a0<\/strong>and orchestration<\/li>\n<li><strong>Awareness<\/strong>\u00a0of the capabilities of applicable languages\/frameworks\/libraries as well as the inherent differences between them in order to understand trade-offs and make recommendations.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>What You\u2019ll Get*<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Full-time compensation<\/li>\n<li>Full medical coverage<\/li>\n<li>Lunch and snacks provided daily<\/li>\n<li>Beautiful working environment<\/li>\n<li>Opportunity to work with the brightest minds inside and outside of your field<\/li>\n<li>A chance to change the world for the better<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Andela is a network of technology leaders dedicated to advancing human potential.
