Activities will include active case finding of persons living with HIV (PLHIV) in the Western Region (WR), putting and retaining them on treatment, and ensuring they are virally suppressed. The activity will be funded by USAID through the USA President\u2019s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief (PEPFAR) through September 2020.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0Nurse Assistant \u2013 Clinical (Enrolled Nurses)\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Summary<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>This is a full-time position that will be based in districts in the Western Region, Ghana. The role of the\u00a0<strong>Nurse Assistant \u2013 Clinical (Enrolled Nurses)\u00a0<\/strong>will be to act as project liaisons \/focal points in specific Ghana Health Service (GHS) ART facilities and collaborate with personnel there to provide quality and comprehensive HIV services for PLHIVs (including KPs), by actively managing successful community referrals, and ensuring their linkage to the desired facility-based care and treatment services.<\/p>\n<p>The main objective of the N<strong>urse Assistant \u2013Clinical<\/strong>\u00a0is to provide professional health and nursing care to PLHIV by contributing to their regular care and maintenance, as well as participating in all HIV care and related programs undertaken by the health facility.<\/p>\n<p>The successful applicants will be deployed at various health facilities offering ART services in the various districts (Ahanta West, Ellembele, Jomoro, Nzema East, Prestea- Huni Valley, Kwesimintim, Sekondi Takoradi Metro, Shama, Tarkwa-Nsueam Municipal, Wassa Amenfi East and Wassa Amenfi West) of the Western Region. Candidates resident in the designated districts will have an advantage.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>No. of Positions:<\/strong>\u00a0 Eighteen (18)<\/li>\n<li><strong>Reporting Relationship:<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>The Nurse Assistant \u2013 Clinical (Enrolled Nurses)\u00a0<\/strong>reports to the Senior Program Specialist on the project, and who will be based in Takoradi.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities and Duties<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Collaborate with HF management and personnel and participate in activities for assessment, planning, and implementation of interventions for addressing patient care problems of PLHIV.<\/li>\n<li>Actively engage PLHIV, and all new cases to support their participation in treatment and care programs available at the facility<\/li>\n<li>Undertake and demonstrate nursing tasks in the best interest of patient care and professional standards.<\/li>\n<li>Together with the facility team, maintain a safe patient care environment at all times<\/li>\n<li>\u00a0Ensure promotion of health and prevention of illnesses, teaching patients and their relatives about appropriate behaviors.<\/li>\n<li>Adhere to the national health and safety policies, guidelines\/protocols established in the health facility<\/li>\n<li>Take care of own safety and take all measures to ensure the safety of the patient, relatives, and staff \u2013 reporting all accidents, risk assessments and incidents, completing relevant documentation and undertake a further investigation as directed.<\/li>\n<li>Comply with the GHS quality assurance policy and guidelines and work within the prescribed quality standards.<\/li>\n<li>Participate in project activities in the district, and also in all official role-related activities.<\/li>\n<li>Any other duty assigned by the project supervisor.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Required Skills or Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Community Health Nurse Certificate (Clinical).<\/strong>\u00a0Knowledge of Ghana Health Service HIV AIDS activities will be an advantage.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of ART services, prevention of mother to child transmission (PMTCT), reproductive health, maternal and child health (MCH), and HIV prevention are highly desirable.<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge and understanding of quality assurance issues<\/li>\n<li>Excellent written and communication skills<\/li>\n<li>Good interpersonal skills<\/li>\n<li>Ability to initiate and maintain clear, concise documentation<\/li>\n<li>Ability to work under pressure<\/li>\n<li>Western Region language abilities and cultural awareness will be useful<\/li>\n<li>Computer literate (Word, excel, powerpoint)<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The post holder must at all times:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Work in accordance with the GHS\/NMC Code of Professional Conduct and Disciplinary Procedure.<\/li>\n<li>Strictly adhere to the provisions of the Patient\u2019s Charter.<\/li>\n<li>Monitor own performance against agreed objectives and standards<\/li>\n<li>Attend in-service training to upgrade skills and knowledge to provide quality care to clients.<\/li>\n<li>Keep Log of own performance and in-service training log for purposes of appraisal.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p class=\"how-to-apply\"><strong>How to Apply<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Qualified persons are required to send their cover letter and Curriculum Vitae (CV) marked \u2018<strong>Nurse Assistant \u2013Clinical (Enrolled Nurses)<\/strong>\u00a0\u2019 to:\u00a0<strong>Ghana.recruitment@jsi.com<\/strong><\/li>\n<li>Deadline for the submission of applications: September 18, 2019.<\/li>\n<li>Please note that given the likely high volume of applications, only shortlisted candidates will be contacted.<\/li>\n<li>No phone calls or drop-ins will be accepted.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><span style=\"font-size: medium;\"><strong>JSI is an equal opportunity employer.\u00a0All qualified individuals are welcome to apply.<\/strong><\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>USAID Strengthening the Continuum of Care Project, JSI Research &amp; Training Institute, Inc.
