Established in 1964, the African Development Bank is the premier pan-African development institution, promoting economic growth and social progress across the continent. There are 80 member states, including 54 in Africa (Regional Member Countries).\u00a0 The Bank\u2019s development agenda is delivering the financial and technical support for transformative projects that will significantly reduce poverty through inclusive and sustainable economic growth. In order to sharply focus the objectives of the Ten Year Strategy (2013 \u2013 2022) and ensure greater developmental impact, five major areas (High 5s), all of which will accelerate our delivery for Africa, have been identified for scaling up, namely; energy, agro-business, industrialization, integration and improving the quality of life for the people of Africa.<\/p>\n
Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n Job Title:\u00a0Chief Accountability Officer, Corporate Performance and Accountability Division\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n THE COMPLEX:<\/strong><\/p>\n The Senior Vice-Presidency is responsible for supporting the President in the day-to-day management of the Bank Group to achieve its strategic objective and drive performance culture that will align all processes and systems to deliver high impact results. The SNVP will provide effective leadership and exceptional coordination to ensure the implementation and monitoring of key corporate decisions as well as the identification of necessary corrective measures and actions. The SNVP will lead Senior Management discussions, decision-making processes and the implementation of key Board and Management decisions.<\/p>\n THE HIRING DEPARTMENT\/DIVISION:<\/strong><\/p>\n Located within the Senior Vice-Presidency Complex, the Department for Delivery, Performance Management and Results supports Senior Management in meeting AfDB\u2019s development mandate, improving operational and corporate performance, accelerating the pace of delivery and increasing the Bank\u2019s impact on development. As part of its mandate, it also works to strengthen the Bank\u2019s external and internal accountability for results and promotes a performance-oriented culture across the organisation.<\/p>\n The Department\u2019s activities will be undertaken by the following Divisions:<\/p>\n The Corporate Performance and Accountability Division is responsible for establishing and maintaining corporate frameworks for assessing and tracking the Bank\u2019s development effectiveness and performance. As part of this mandate, it seeks to strengthen the Bank\u2019s internal and external accountability and promote a performance-oriented culture.<\/p>\n The Division undertakes the following activities:<\/p>\n THE POSITION:<\/strong><\/p>\n The Chief Accountability Officer position requires a high level of interaction with the Independent Evaluation Department,\u00a0Senior Management and the Board.\u00a0It will involve a blend of technical, institutional and people management skills, with ample scope for creativity, problem-solving, analytical work, capacity building and coaching.\u00a0 The incumbent is responsible for reviewing internal and external evaluations, and for working with Management to coordinate and prepare these responses including clear actions in response to recommendations made by the evaluations. This is with the view to improving the Bank\u2019s performance, addressing critical issues, removing bottlenecks and improving business processes.<\/p>\n He\/she will be responsible for following up and tracking implementation of commitments made by Management in response to these evaluations, as well as managing the Management Action Record System.
