The Polytechnic is an equal opportunity institution and runs programs that challenge learners to be creative, innovative and morally responsible citizens.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title: PRINCIPAL LIBRARY ASSISTANT<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Staff in this grade shall be required to perform the duties of Senior Library Assistant at a high level of responsibility; including the following:<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Housekeeping duties in the library;<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Disseminating information to patrons;<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Assisting in ensuring that the library is secured from theft;<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Performing classification and cataloguing of books journals and other materials;<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Preparing Accession Register and Acquisition Regis\u00adter;<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Undertaking weeding of materials;<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Providing inputs for the preparation of the depart\u00adment\u2019s budget; and<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Assisting in stock taking of library materials;<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Any other duties that may be assigned from time to time<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Qualifications<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Must hold a Bachelor\u2019s degree in Library Studies, Information or Information Science from a recognized university with at least 5 years post qualification expe\u00adrience;<\/p>\n<p>OR<\/p>\n<p>\u00b7\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0\u00a0 Must possess the Diploma in Library\/Information Studies with at least 8 years relevant working experience<\/p>\n<p>OR<\/p>\n<p>Must have had a minimum of 5 years\u2019 experience in the grade of Senior Library Assistant<\/p>\n<p class=\"how-to-apply\"><strong>How to Apply<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Interested qualified applicants may download Application Forms from the Polytechnic&#8217;s website\u00a0<strong>below\u00a0<\/strong>for completion.
