Dean, Faculty of Arts<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<p><em>The University of Ghana invites applications from suitably qualified persons for the senior level administrative positions listed below, which will become vacant 1st August, 2011.<br \/>\n<\/em><br \/>\n<strong>The Faculty consists of the following:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Department of English<\/li>\n<li>Department of Linguistics<\/li>\n<li>Department of Philosophy and Classics<\/li>\n<li>Department for the Study of Religions<\/li>\n<li>School of Modern Languages<\/li>\n<li>School of Performing Arts<\/li>\n<li>Language Centre<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Reporting to:<\/strong>\u00a0Vice-Chancellor<\/p>\n<p><strong>Duties:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The Dean is responsible for providing leadership to the Faculty and for maintaining and promoting efficiency and good order in accordance with the policies and procedures prescribe by the University Act and Statutes, or as may be determined by the Council, the Academic Board and the Faculty Board<\/li>\n<li>The Dean is to ensure that the approved programmes and functions of the Faculty are duly carried out by members of the Faculty<\/li>\n<li>The Dean is also responsible for the general administration of the Faculty in respect of human, financial and material resources within the general framework of University policy<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Tenure:<\/strong>\u00a0Three (3) years in the first instance and renewable for another term of up to 3 years\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Required Skills or Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Must be of professorial status from an academic\/research institution<\/li>\n<li>Must be capable of providing academic leadership especially in the area of teaching, research and extension in the relevant disciplines<\/li>\n<li>Must provide evidence of managerial and administrative leadership and capacity to promote a collegial working environment in the Faculty<\/li>\n<li>Must demonstrate capacity to attract funding for research and development<\/li>\n<li>Must have the vision and the drive to oversee the growth and development of the Faculty<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>2. Director, Academic Quality Assurance Unit<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Reporting to:<\/strong>\u00a0Pro-Vice Chancellor (Academic and Student Affairs)<\/p>\n<p><strong>Duties:<\/strong><br \/>\nThe Director is responsible for overseeing academic quality in all academic units, programmes and all institutions which award University of Ghana degrees; and in particular to:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Advise the Academic Curriculum, Quality and Staff Development Committee on the determination and maintenance of acceptable levels of academic standards with respect to teaching, learning and research;<\/li>\n<li>Conduct, in collaboration with the Planning and Management Information Services Directorate (PMISD), student evaluation of courses and teaching staff every semester;<\/li>\n<li>Conduct departmental reviews at least every five years, to be preceded by self-assessment exercises and quality audits;<\/li>\n<li>Facilitate and oversee the preparation of quality audits, self-studies, quality assurance reviews, surveys, staff training and development initiatives;<\/li>\n<li>Disseminate on a regular basis, matters related to quality enhancement to the wider community and beyond;<\/li>\n<li>Organize annual exit surveys of graduating\u00a0classes\u00a0and to periodically\u00a0undertake tracer and employer surveys;<\/li>\n<li>Perform any other functions relating to quality assurance as may be referred to it by the University Council or the Academic Board<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Tenure:<\/strong>\u00a0Three (3) years in the first instance and renewable for another term of up to 3 years<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Required Skills or Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Must be of professorial status from an academic\/research institution<\/li>\n<li>Must be capable of providing leadership in the area of Institutional research and analysis, as they relate to academic quality assurance policies<\/li>\n<li>Must provide evidence of managerial and administrative leadership and capacity to promote a collegial working environment in the University<\/li>\n<li>Must demonstrate a good understanding of the teaching and learning processes in the University environment<\/li>\n<li>Must have the vision and the drive to oversee the growth and development of the Quality Assurance Unit<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>How To Apply<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>An applicant is required to submit the complete application pack to:<\/p>\n<div><strong>The Registrar<br \/>\nUniversity of Ghana<br \/>\nP.
