Security Council Resolution 1325 on women, peace and security (2000) and Resolution 1820 on women, peace and security (2008) mandate Governments, the United Nations, regional organisations and civil society organisations to ensure that all efforts to promote peace and security address the adverse impact of conflicts on women and girls, and engage women in all efforts to build and sustain peace. As part of ongoing efforts to support implementation of Security Council Resolutions 1325 and 1820 in Africa, UNDP, UNIFEM, UNFPA and other donor partners will support the establishment of a Women, Peace and Security Institute at the Kofi Annan International Peacekeeping Training Center (KAIPTC) in Accra, Ghana. Established in 2003, KAIPTC undertakes training and research on issues relating to peace and security in Africa, with most of its target participants being African countries. KAIPTC seeks an innovative and experienced Programme Officer to provide technical and programmatic support as part of small team to implement the work programme of the Women Peace and Security Institute during its start-up phase.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n
