The mine is currently in a redevelopment phase which will lead to a modern, efficient, and long-term profitable operation. The underground mining operation has been fully mechanized and designed to produce up to an average maximum of 5,000 t\/day of ore mined in Ghana.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Title:\u00a0Winder Engineer \u2013 Mechanical<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>The Role<\/strong><br \/>\nThis position reports to the Hiring leader and is accountable for monitoring and control of quality of maintenance of winding equipment to ensure it is compliant, safe, in accordance with operational and engineering policies, standards, systems and procedures to maximize plant availability in a compliant, safe, sustainable cost-effective manner and minimize operational risks in order to meet the business\u2019 strategic objective.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Responsibilities<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Application review of safety standards and work practices for the refurbishment construction and infrastructure workforce to enable the safety targets to be managed and achieved.<\/li>\n<li>Application of HSE regulations with zero tolerance to breaches.<\/li>\n<li>Safety behaviour demonstration consistent with our vision and values.<\/li>\n<li>Lead by example to create a safe working environment, where risks are assessed and managed so tasks are performed without risk of injury or harm.<\/li>\n<li>Continuous improvement of design and field safety performance.<\/li>\n<li>Inspections, audits, JHA, etc. of the Safety Management System delivering compliance<\/li>\n<li>Timely investigation of all injuries, illness, and incidents with actions plans developed to prevent recurrences<\/li>\n<li>Ensure monitoring and data collection to demonstrate execution of the surface infrastructure aspects of construction, refurbishment and maintenance activities in accordance with the Government of Ghana conditions of approvals and the site\u2019s Environmental Management Plan<\/li>\n<li>Environmental-related workplace instruction to any employees<\/li>\n<li>Zero reportable environmental incidents, zero compliance breaches and no events requiring public disclosure<\/li>\n<li>Investigate process interruptions using \u2018Analyse and Improve\u2019 tools<\/li>\n<li>Underground Maintenance team processes required to support the role holder in executing the project<\/li>\n<li>Using AGA\u2019s How we Work guidelines, clearly define the roles and accountabilities of subordinates.<\/li>\n<li>Recruit and appoint people to role in accordance with AGA policy and localization objectives as directed by the Senior Mining Manager and Deputy Engineering Manager<\/li>\n<li>Ensure the organization structure is capable of delivering the electrical maintenance strategy<\/li>\n<li>Communicate policies and procedures in a manner so as to achieve full understanding and compliance<\/li>\n<li>Provide guidance to subordinates in leadership techniques to achieve maximum performance<\/li>\n<li>Develop a skills matrix that includes all disciplines and individual achievements<\/li>\n<li>Identify skill deficiencies and initiate corrective action<\/li>\n<li>For the electrical aspects of following winding work activities, ensure the processes are in place for timely completion of works on: Winding infrastructure equipment by the provision of<\/li>\n<li>Electrical subject matter input into the design and constructability process, ensuring safe constructability remains a high priority<\/li>\n<li>Electrical advice and guidance to the refurbishment project team on best practice, fit for purpose engineering and construction outcomes to meet approved design specifications<\/li>\n<li>Review, approval and sign off of the winding infrastructure items detailed in the Refurbishment Execution Plan and schedule, infrastructure detailed design requirements, detailed testing plans, operational commissioning plans, handover plans, training plans, manuals, records, drawings, specifications and documents issued.<\/li>\n<li>Deliver winding requirements consistent with the procurement and contracting strategy, which address the construction time, cost and quality risks.<\/li>\n<li>Monitor internal processes that support management of the interface with the EPCM contractor for construction and refurbishment works.<\/li>\n<li>Monitor the development of maintenance planning and management outcomes in winding<\/li>\n<li>Comply with reporting processes for managing winding equipment installation and refurbishment contractor and the our maintenance workforce to deliver works that meet cost, schedule and quality expectations consistent with the scope and quality contained in the Feasibility Study within area of accountability.<\/li>\n<li>Proactively control the refurbishment process to avoid potential project cost and schedule overruns.<\/li>\n<li>Control winding refurbishment priorities within a dynamic environment, whilst maintaining safety, budget, schedule and quality targets.<\/li>\n<li>Communicate accurate and timely construction schedule delivery, progress, cost and quality information in the area of accountability<\/li>\n<li>Design and put in place reporting structure to provide major inputs to Maintenance Manager \u2013 UG to allow reporting of Operational Readiness for the winding operations.<\/li>\n<li>Monitor the compliant completion of the winding aspects of the Operational Readiness plan for the mining teams including localisation plan.<\/li>\n<li>Engage and develop appropriately skilled, capable and experienced personnel in the area of accountability.<\/li>\n<li>Use the systems for the winding department to provide effective planning of work, efficient and safe work practices, monitoring of performance and promote continuous improvement.<\/li>\n<li>Verify the standard of work of the maintenance of the winding equipment during the Phase1 &amp; 2 Operations.<\/li>\n<li>Monitor and ensure the work carried out by the underground maintenance team on the winding equipment is of a standard that is compliant, supports the operational requirements of the equipment and is at optimum cost<\/li>\n<li>Identify sub-standard work practices, identify root cause and eliminate by corrective action.<\/li>\n<li>Task subordinates in line with achieving the agreed production plan<\/li>\n<li>Work with the team of engineers to specify, design, analyze and verify new components and systems.<\/li>\n<li>Implement corporate programs, e.g. asset management strategies, System for People, Operational Effectiveness, etc across areas of control.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>The Requirement<\/strong><br \/>\nQualification<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Minimum of bachelor\u2019s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Experience<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>An experienced Winder Operations Manager\/Engineer with over 10 years\u2019 experience in underground mining<\/li>\n<li>Experience in management of Maintenance and Repair Contracts (MARC)<\/li>\n<li>Experience in Project Management<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge of SAP PM module<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Legal Requirements<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Must possess Engineering Managers Certificate of Competence from Mineral Commission of Ghana Or Winder Operations Engineer Certificate or Similar \u2013 issued by the Government of Ghana or an international certificate valid in Ghana.<\/li>\n<li>Professional Certificated Engineer with a relevant certification body<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Technical Competencies<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Strong Winder Operations competencies in underground mining<\/li>\n<li>Sound project management skills<\/li>\n<li>Should have analytical skills to be able to evaluate information and solve complex problems.<\/li>\n<li>Detail oriented to understand complex systems, and recognition that a minor error can cause majo problems.<\/li>\n<li>Commercially astute and able to work effectively with third parties.<\/li>\n<li>Legally astute with respect to project delivery and maintenance systems<\/li>\n<li>Excellent skills in Microsoft PowerPoint, Word, Project and Excel<\/li>\n<li>Must be able to communicate about technical issues both orally and in writing<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge in AGA standards<\/li>\n<li>Knowledge in OEM legalities and mining regulations<\/li>\n<li>Demonstrated understanding of good Supervisory practices and the implementation of proactive maintenance strategies<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Leadership Competencies<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Build and sustain a team of subordinates capable of producing those outputs;<\/li>\n<li>Continuously improve the processes used by the team in delivering
