The Regional Office for RAF is responsible for leading FAO\u2019s response to regional priorities for food security, agriculture and rural development through the identification, planning and implementation of FAO\u2019s priority activities in the region. It ensures a multidisciplinary approach to programmes, identifies priority areas of action for the Organization in the Region and, in collaboration with departments and divisions at Headquarters, develops, promotes and oversees FAO\u2019s strategic response to regional priorities. RAF also advises on the incorporation of regional priorities into the Organization\u2019s Programme of Work and Budget and implements approved programmes and projects in the region, monitors the level of programme implementation and draws attention to problems and deficiencies. RAF develops and maintains relations with region-wide institutions including the Regional Economic Integration Organizations (REIOs). The Regional Office supports regional policy dialogue on food security, agriculture and rural development issues, facilitates the emergence of regional partnerships, and supports capacity development and resource mobilization for food security, agriculture and rural development in the region.<\/p>\n
Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n Job Title:\u00a0Agribusiness Officer<\/strong><\/p>\n Reporting Lines<\/p>\n The Agribusiness Officer reports to the Senior Nutrition and Food Systems Officer, who is the focal person for Strategic Programme 4 (Enable Inclusive and Efficient Agricultural and Food Systems); under the overall supervision of the Assistant Director General (ADG) and Regional Programme Leader. \n\u2022 Assesses constraints and opportunities for investment at all levels of selected value chains, in relation to the functionality of private sector engagement, markets and market institutions, existence and performance of support services, trade policies, risk management systems, as well as food safety control systems when applicable.
\n\u2022 Identifies and analyses agricultural investment-related policy issues, and develops public private platforms aiming at promoting an enabling environment for investment along the value chain.
\n\u2022 Provides contributions to the development of knowledge products, including analytical work and practical tools, related to agribusiness, marketing and value chain development.<\/p>\n
\n\u2022 Seven years of relevant experience in the areas of agro-industry systems development, agri-food industry economics and management or related field, application of value chain analysis and development, agribusiness and market development, processing, including experience in the formulation and\/or implementation of agricultural investment operations.
\n\u2022 Working knowledge of English, French or Spanish and limited knowledge of one of the other two or Arabic, Chinese or Russian.<\/p>\n
