The National Labour Commission (NLC) was establish in consonance with the Labour Act 2003, Act 651. Its main mission is to promote a peaceful and harmonious industrial relations in the country. The Commission consists of seven commissioners (nominated by government, employers and organised labour), inaugurated by the President on 6th April 2005, and a secretariat. The NLC\ufffds functions and powers are stipulated in sections 138 and 139 of the Act.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n

Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n

\n

The National Labour Commission (NLC) established under the Labour Act, 2003, Act 651 invites suitably qualified applicants to fill the vacancy position.
\n<\/em>
\nDuties:
\n<\/strong>Under the direction of the Head of Secretariat :<\/p>\n

    \n
  • Provide legal opinion and represent the Commission in court<\/li>\n
  • Liaise with the Attorney-Generals\u00a0 Department, the Law Reform Commission and related bodies on the various Arts, Legislative Instruments, Constitutional Instruments and related materials that impact on the functions and procedures of the Commission<\/li>\n
  • Explain the functions and procedures of the Commission to clients<\/li>\n
  • Enforce the Commission’s Rulings, Orders and Directives in the Law Courts<\/li>\n
  • Guide complaints in the use of the Commission’s complaint form<\/li>\n
  • Prepare reports on decisions taken by the Commission in the settlement of all industrial disputes<\/li>\n
  • Undertake any other duties that may be assigned from time-to-time<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

    Required Skills or Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
      \n
    • Must have the relevant educational and professional certificates and be admitted to the Ghana Bar<\/li>\n
    • Must have practiced for at least four (4) years in Ghana<\/li>\n
    • Must have a good knowledge in Ghana Labour Laws and relevant International Labour Organisation (ILO) Conventions and Recommendations<\/li>\n
    • Must be knowledgeable in\u00a0Collective Bargaining<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n

      Essential Qualities:<\/strong><\/p>\n

      • Must be results-oriented<\/li>\n
      • Must be innovative and a self-starter<\/li>\n
      • Must have a good track record of team membership skills<\/li>\n
      • Must be able to work with little or no supervision<\/li>\n
      • Must be able to work under pressure<\/li>\n
      • Must have a good command of the English Language (both spoken and written) and must be an effective communicator<\/li>\n
      • Must have excellent interpersonal skills<\/li>\n
      • Must be computer literate<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n
