The essential purpose of Christian Aid is to expose the scandal of poverty, to help in practical ways to root it out from the world and to challenge the structures and systems which favour the rich and powerful over the poor and marginalised.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Christian Aid Ghana recruits\u00a0Programme Officer, Governance<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong>Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<p>1 year fixed term contract with possibility of renewal<br \/>\n<strong>Based:<\/strong>\u00a0Accra with extensive travel in country<br \/>\n<strong>Job reference: GHANA\/004\/PO-G<br \/>\n<\/strong><br \/>\nA three year European Union funded governance programme with start in October 2011, working across 18\u00a0districts in Ghana. Christian Aid (CA) requires a Programme Officer (PO) to provide technical support, monitoring and programmes. He\/she will ensure that implementation, monitoring and programme reporting are carried out in accordance with CA and donor requirements.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The PO will be responsible for results based monitoring and documentation of change and the sharing of best practice amongst partners and work as part of a dynamic programme team contributing to the achievement of the Ghana programme goals. The post-holder will be required to spend up to 30% of their time outside Accra<\/li>\n<li>The post-holder will also support the Christian Aid Ghana team to manage contracts and partnerships, ensure the effective disbursement of funds and contribute to proposal development and fundraising. This includes providing capacity development support to partners in the area of organsational development, governance, policy and advocacy, in line with CA\u00a0standards<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Required Skills or Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Candidates must be educated to at least degree level in a development, related discipline, preferably on social science, governance or public policy, and have at least 5 years experience of supporting advocacy and governance work at local level<\/li>\n<li>Experience of contract management, budget management, proposal development as well as providing support to NGOs\/community based organisations in governance programming is essential<\/li>\n<li>Technical knowledge of taxation, youth policies and action orientated research and learning would be an advantage, as would experience of managing EU-funded contracts<\/li>\n<li>The candidate should have a valid drivers&#8217; license, strong writing skills and be computer literate<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong><em>Please show your suitability for this post by giving answers to the following questions: Using the guidance notes may help you formulate your answers.<\/p>\n<p><\/em><\/strong><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Delivery of goals and objectives:<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span>Describe a time when you had to deliver an ambitious project at a time when your team\/organisation was going through a process of significant change. How do you know if you were successful or not?<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Team working:<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span>While working in a team, have you ever volunteered to take on proactively additional tasks in order to support the group&#8217;s efforts? What was the situation? Why did you volunteer to take on those tasks? How was this received by others in the team? Were you able to complete these additional tasks?<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"text-decoration: underline;\"><strong>Attention to detail:<br \/>\n<\/strong><\/span>Describe a multi-faceted project that you worked on or a complex report you wrote. What quality control or review mechanism did you put in place? What feedback did you receive from others? How did you incorporate that feedback into the final product?
