{"id":5064,"date":"2011-08-15T08:22:55","date_gmt":"2011-08-15T08:22:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/joblistghana.com\/?p=5064"},"modified":"2013-12-26T21:12:59","modified_gmt":"2013-12-26T21:12:59","slug":"ministry-of-land-and-natural-resources-ghana-jobs-2011","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/joblistghana.com\/ministry-of-land-and-natural-resources-ghana-jobs-2011.html","title":{"rendered":"Ministry of Land and Natural Resources Ghana Jobs 2011"},"content":{"rendered":"<div>\n<p><em>The Ministry of Land and Natural Resources under the Government of Ghana (GoG)\/World Bank\/Canadian International Development Association (CIDA) funded Project, wishes to recruit qualified Ghanaians to fill the following\u00a0position in\u00a0a Land Administration Project Phase II in Ghana.<\/em><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><em>Job Vacancy:\u00a0Social Development and Gender Specialist<br \/>\n<\/em><\/strong><br \/>\n<strong>Duty Station:\u00a0<\/strong>Accra, with considerable travel around the country<br \/>\n<strong>Duration:<\/strong>\u00a0Two (2) years (renewable based on performance)<\/p>\n<p>The focus will be on social safeguards and effective implementation of the gender equality strategy. Specifically, the Gender and Social Development Specialist will:<\/p>\n<p><strong>For Social Development:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Ensure that social, gender and sustainable land management issues and mainstreamed into all relevant components and activities of the project;<\/li>\n<li>Advise and guide the project on the issue of resettlement where it occurs within the course of project activities;<\/li>\n<li>Provide operational and technical support on social safeguards including the development of resettlement action plans for involuntary resettlement in project;<\/li>\n<li>Contribute to capacity building activities to build client and CSO\u00a0capacity implement social safeguards<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with the M&amp;E Specialist to monitor and measure social and gender development outcomes of the project;<\/li>\n<li>Promote the use of Alternative Land Dispute Resolution mechanisms among customary authorities and communities, and play a leading role in adapting and modeling ADR mechanisms and strengthening existing ones; and<\/li>\n<li>Collaborate with the Communication and Public Outreach Specialist on community outreaches programmes<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>For Gender Equality:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Facilitate the implementation of the gender strategy;<\/li>\n<li>Facilitate the integration of gender equality strategic objectives, results, indicators into LAP Phase II programming and reporting;<\/li>\n<li>Analyze sectoral policies and documents as well as legal frameworks on Land for their gender impacts on the project;<\/li>\n<li>Coordinate gender equality and social impact assessments as required and recommend actions for consideration and better integration of gender into the project;<\/li>\n<li>Facilitate the establishment of a social development and gender unit within the Land Commission and other Land Sector Agencies;<\/li>\n<li>Develop action plans, to sensitize various stakeholders, obtaining women&#8217;s participation in project activities and decision-making, as well as ensuring that women&#8217;s rights to land are acknowledged;<\/li>\n<li>Ensure a high degree of participation of key stakeholders including Civil Society Organizations (CSOs) such as CICOL and several others in planning, implementation, monitoring and evaluation<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Required Skills or Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>A Master&#8217;s Degree in Social Science, gender, development studies or relevant field with over seven (7) years experience in donor funded Project<\/li>\n<li>Must have a good track record of performance and achievements<\/li>\n<li>Must have good communication skills and the ability to network with major stakeholders<\/li>\n<li>Proven capacity to think strategically, seize opportunities as they arise, work with a variety of stakeholders and promote their participation in the project implementation process<\/li>\n<li>Capacity to work under tight deadlines and to handle potentially controversial and\/or very sensitive issues that require clarity,\u00a0accuracy and speed responses<\/li>\n<li>Familiarity with the current land situation in Ghana, existing policies, regional administrative challenges and relevant structures as\u00a0well as competence in Ghanaian languages is desirable<\/li>\n<li>Must have strong computer skills<\/li>\n<li>Membership of a professional body<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>How
