Free the Slaves (www.freetheslaves.net) is a non-profit organization dedicated to ending modern slavery worldwide. Its programs focus on helping people to sustainable freedom and dismantling the systems that allow slavery to exist. Free the Slaves has 20 working team members.

Mainly based in Obuasi, the full-time Child Rights in Mining Program Coordinator will set up and manage a new project to reduce all forms of violence and exploitation against children in informal mining settlements. The Program Coordinator will primarily manage the logistics, recruitment, administrative and financial systems for this program. The program uses ethnographic methods for researching child protection needs, sexual exploitation and child slavery issues, leading to creation of an in-depth community engagement program.

The work will take place over a 16-month period beginning in October 2011. The Program Coordinator will be supervised and guided about project design and implementation by the Child Rights Project Leader (who will be based partly in Obuasi and Accra, and partly in the US).
