{"id":5104,"date":"2011-08-17T07:46:51","date_gmt":"2011-08-17T07:46:51","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/joblistghana.com\/?p=5104"},"modified":"2013-12-26T16:14:07","modified_gmt":"2013-12-26T16:14:07","slug":"parliamentary-service-of-ghana-massive-recruitment-2011","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/joblistghana.com\/parliamentary-service-of-ghana-massive-recruitment-2011.html","title":{"rendered":"Parliamentary Service Of Ghana Massive Recruitment 2011"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Principal ProofReaders<\/p>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Report to:\u00a0<\/strong>Assistant Chief Proofreader<strong><\/p>\n<p>Job Summary:<\/strong><br \/>\nTo assist the Editor of Debates in ensuring that the Official Reports of the Proceedings of Parliament are published in accordance with standard English prose.<br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\nMain Duties and Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Proofread the results of the Typesetter&#8217;s work and verification proofread, ensuring that the editorial marks are made by the Editor have been followed by the typesetter;<\/li>\n<li>Proofread for consistency in usage and layout, for accuracy in the text and references and for typesetting errors;<\/li>\n<li>Review documents for correction of grammatical errors &#8211; typos or spelling errors, proper placement spelling, word usage, correct capitalisation, plurals, possessives, word division, correct punctuation, correct grammar, sentence structure, number style, correct formatting &#8211; accuracy and consistency-before typesetting and printing; and<\/li>\n<li>Ensure printable quality of the Daily Official Reports<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Salary:<\/strong>\u00a0Attractive with fringe benefits<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Required Skills or Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>HND in Secretaryship and Management Studies or Stenographer Secretary<\/li>\n<li>Certificate issued by the Government Secretariat School\/NACVET; and<\/li>\n<li>GCE &#8216;O&#8217; Level\/SSSCE\/WASSCE with four (4) credit passes including English and Mathematics; and<\/li>\n<li>At least three (3) years experience in proofreading; Or<\/li>\n<li>GCE &#8216;O&#8217; Level\/SSSCE\/WASSCE with four (4) credit passes including English and Mathematics and<\/li>\n<li>At least nine (9) years post-qualification experience in proofreading<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Competencies and Skills:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Must be computer literate in MS\u00a0Office Word, MS\u00a0Office Publisher and Adobe Page Maker;<\/li>\n<li>Must be proficient in both written and oral English; and<\/li>\n<li>Must be conversant with appropriate revision symbols to correct errors;<\/li>\n<li>Shortlisted candidates for the post will be required to undertake written and practical tests in English and Proofreading<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div><strong>2. Parliamentary Reporters-In-Training<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>Selected candidates will be sponsored to attend an eight months&#8217; course in English Language, Parliamentary Practice and Proceedings, Computer Applications, Typewriting, Reporting, Proofreading and Typesetting and shall be bonded after successful completion to serve the Parliamentary Service for a period of five (5) years.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Required Skills or Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>A good First Degree from a recognised University in English or Linguistics;<\/li>\n<li>Must be Computer Literate; and<\/li>\n<li>Age Limit &#8211; Applicants should not be more than 35 years;<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<div><strong>3.\u00a0Principal Typesetter<\/strong><\/div>\n<div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Reporting to:\u00a0<\/strong>Assistant Chief Typesetter<strong><\/p>\n<p>Job Summary:<\/strong><br \/>\nTo assist the Editor of Debates in the production of the Official Reports of the Proceedings of Parliament in accordance with the Official Report (Hansard) style.<br \/>\n<strong><br \/>\nMain Duties and Responsibilities:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Design, arrange pages and typeset materials for printing; and<\/li>\n<li>Collate and correct manuscripts<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Salary:<\/strong>\u00a0Attractive with fringe benefits<br \/>\n&nbsp;<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div>\n<p><strong>Required Skills or Experience<\/strong><\/p>\n<div>\n<ul>\n<li>HND in Secretaryship and Management Studies or Stenographer Secretary<\/li>\n<li>Certificate issued by the Government Secretariat School\/NACVET; and<\/li>\n<li>GCE &#8216;O&#8217; Level\/SSSCE\/WASSCE with four (4) credit passes including English and Mathematics; and<\/li>\n<li>At least three (3) years experience in proofreading; Or<\/li>\n<li>GCE &#8216;O&#8217; Level\/SSSCE\/WASSCE with four (4) credit passes including English and Mathematics and<\/li>\n<li>At least nine (9) years post-qualification experience in proofreading<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><strong>Competencies and Skills:<\/strong><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Must be computer literate in MS\u00a0Office Word, MS\u00a0Office Publisher and Adobe Page Maker;<\/li>\n<li>Evidence of training and usage of Desktop Publishing Software, Corel Draw, Page Planning.
