Job Description<\/strong><\/p>\n Job Title:\u00a0Excavator & Shovel Operator<\/strong><\/p>\n Purpose<\/p>\n To operate Shovel and Excavator at Newmont to deliver material to the appropriate destination in a safe and controlled manner.<\/p>\n Essential Duties<\/p>\n Operate excavator machinery according to standard operating procedures (SOP\u2019s) and standard task procedures (STP\u2019s). \nAssist in developing peers to perform quality excavating duties.
\nPerform pre-start checks on the excavators and log results onto the JIGSAW system.
\nMonitor truck payload to minimize over-loading and under-loading. Remain accountable for the digging area of excavation to uphold the highest safety and productivity standards.
\nReport and escalate all accidents and incidents occurring in the shift immediately to the Dispatcher \/ Supervisor.
\nConduct post-shift inspections regarding hazards and defects identified and communicate these to Dispatch \/ Supervisor and the incoming operators for the smooth running of Operations.
\nFollow all safety policies, procedures and legislation.
\nPerform other related activities, as assigned by the Shift Supervisor.<\/p>\n
\nLicense E
\nGeneral knowledge in heavy equipment operation.
\nGeneral understanding of mining operations<\/p>\n
\nExperience in working within an active open pit mine is preferable.
\nWorking Conditions<\/p>\n
\nPhysical Demands: While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to sit in the cabin of a heavy mining equipment for extended periods, climb stairs, walk and stand.
\nWork Environment: The noise level in the field environment is minimal. Occasional exposure to noise, fumes, high temperature, moving machinery, hazardous materials, sharp edges, dust, pinch-points, vibration, slippery surfaces, extreme weather conditions.
\nProtective Equipment (PPE): Work requires mandatory PPE such as helmet, goggles, high visible clothing, safety harness, earplugs and dust mask according to working conditions.
\nIncumbent has to work for extended hours.<\/p>\n
